john is the worst lawyer on the face of this earth. I wasted 5,000.00 on him. I never got any receipts from him to see what he was actually doing regarding my case upon request. I couldn't contact him from the jail because both of his numbers were blocked. Usually lawyers have a phone you can call that has a secure line but he didnt so I had my family reach out to him to see if he could meet with me. They emailed john and called him but he never returned their calls or emails when I needed him regarding my case and for new evidence i received a couple times, he doesn't remember half of the things you ask him to do and he got all of the details to my case wrong. He's ineffective and the first couple of visits I got from John all he kept saying to me is that he could do whatever I needed him to do regarding my case he just wanted all his money in full. Once John was paid in full I thought he would do a better job. I was wrong. I did all of my own research and gave John a notebook full of questions to ask at trial that were very good but I believe John just got all of his money and didn't want to do anything. I never got any of the money back that wasnt used either. I have a hard time believing he spent it all on my case when he didnt do anything or give me any receipts The only reason I got good results from my Case is that the alleged victim who falsified testimony was scared to come to court because there was a very high risk of this turning around on the alleged victim who could've faced attempted murder charges. Avoiding the subpoenas was the smartest thing the alleged victim could've done. Anyway I don't know what John specializes in but it's not criminal defense/trials. I'm thinking about posting my whole case just to show how easy this case was to beat but John didn't have what it took. Oh yeah John only gave me 8 pages of my discovery. I actually had 46 not including pictures. I had to request it myself because John was reluctant to turn it over to me. Now that the case is closed John still hasn't turned over my file upon request or showed me one receipt of what he actually did. John represented me from April of 2017 untill December 2017. Dont hire this guy he'll rip you off. I have a lot more to say but I think I said enough. This was recent he hasnt changed. Dont waste your time or money with this guy. He'll rip you off.

Jon Hoekstra is a joke wasted $4500 On him to get custody of my son and prove his mother unfit I handed him all the evidence to prove her unfit and he don't even use it he does what ever he wants and not what u want he trys to do things in steps so he can keep you in court so he can keep charging you money for things he don't want to file everything at once so you have to keep paying him your money I do not recommend him for anything i now have to retain a different lawyer

Hired John for my divorce. This was a difficult time in my life and John was very rude. I felt he did not hear me out during our consultation. He made sure to get my $2,000 retainer and gave me a receipt for that but I left with no other information. The first document he prepared was my petition for divorce and it had an entirely different first name paired with my last name. I did not trust him to finish my case so I got new representation elsewhere. I called and left 2 messages with his secretary that I was firing John and getting a new attorney. I only got $475 back of my retainer because he continued to do unnecessary things for my case that my current attorney was already doing. 0 stars if I could.

It is my opinion that anyone reading this should not hire this attorney. He was horrible at responding to calls or emails, he was horrible at relating information to me regarding my case, he stated that just because I was not required to be at a hearing he did not have to tell me about it. It is my opinion that he generated fees above what would have been required due to his poor communication skills, and he felt the need to submit a claim on his remaining bill to the court and charge me for preparing it. Let me put it this way, if you need a lawyer, use my ex-wife's, he communicated with me far better than this guy.

I did not do much work with this office, but I think its important that not only was his office one of only 3 in town that actually answered their phone but he himself answered the phone and spoke to me about some problems I was having. He was helpful and courteous.
