When I write this review, I’m speaking directly from my personal point of view, and from the heart. Everybody’s path in life is different and I don’t judge anyone or anybody. Through my experiences, when you talk to people that have been through the criminal justice; “everybody has a story”. I was always quick to judge until “the story” hit me square in the face, personally. I walked this earth for 37 years, without even remotely being arrested or having a record. In the blink of an eye, I was arrested twice on severe DUI charges in a 9 month period. I’m not gonna go into specifics of the cases, I don’t feel that’s necessary in a public forum. I will go into certain specifics of the ramifications that these two arrests had on my life. I have a high profile job that requires multiple certifications, and a bachelors degree and multiple masters degree’s from a highly publicized university. In other words I had everything to lose and nothing to gain from this mess. After, this experience, I will tell you that the criminal justice system is nothing but a big business. Like anything else in life, their is good and bad. Shawn Dorward, is the best in the business and I can speak to you directly from my personal experience of dealing with this gentlemen on pretty much a daily basis for 7 months. I have many many true friends, that I grew up with that practice law and are in law enforcement. Honestly, a very large amount which makes it even more embarrassing for me. Please understand, it’s not to brag on my part, but all of those individuals will be the first to tell you that after witnessing Mr. Dorward’s behavior, practice, and actions; he is the best criminal defense attorney in Central PA. Nobody is better, and ladies and gentlemen I am paying him he is not paying me. So, I felt compelled to take time and write a heart-felt review on Mr. Dorward because if it wasn’t for him, I would have lost everything in my life that i worked so hard for and strived to achieve. I can’t tell you exactly how or why me and him connected because there are so many attorneys to choose from, but even though I was arrested, it didn’t take away the fact; that I know a good person and human being when I see them. The minute I shook Mr. Dorward’s hand and looked at him I knew this was my guy. You can tell a lot about a man by his eyes, and the first thing I saw was; authentication. Shawn Dorward, is everything that you want in an attorney, he is the real deal. He is “straight-up” he’s not out looking for a quick pay day, he’s a thorough, dedicated, and a compassionate human being and attorney, and that is what separates him from everybody else. The guy has become a friend of mine, and has been there 24 hours a day, through thick and thin of this entire process and I honestly do not know where I would be without the guy. I owe Mr. Dorward, my entire well-being and I sincerely mean that. He has gone above and beyond his fulfillment’s and obligations for me because he recognized how stressed I was and he’s a compassionate individual. If you know me personally, you know how passionate, intense, and genuine I can be. I can tell you; right here and right now that this man, Mr. Dorward, is the most intelligent human being I’ve ever sat down next to in my life, he knows the laws and procedures better than most law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and even some judges in this area and that is a fact because I witnessed it with my own eyes. In closing, I could go on and on, but a lot of people at the end the day just want results, and I can personally tell you that he came up with the absolute best possible outcome in my cases and I owe the man so much gratitude, words don’t do it justice. The criminal justice system can be very very scary and you need somebody that’s going to get you guaranteed results, and that’s gonna fight for you. I look at it like we went to battle together and we both fought together. In the end, right prevailed. Thank you, Mr. Dorward your simply the best.

In 2016 my son was involved in a pair of marijuana related DUI charges which eventually required the services of an attorney. We had hired an attorney from the Harrisburg area when the initial DUI charges were filed but weren’t particularly happy with him so we looked into other options and came across attorney Shawn Dorward.

As things would turn out we ended up working with Shawn for over a year and a half and we were very happy with the work he did for us in that time. He represented my son in a bench trial, a jury trial and an appeal and I thought he did an outstanding job in all cases.

These are what I felt were Attorney Dorward’s strongest points:

- Responsiveness

We had an initial consultation over the phone where Shawn took the time to go over costs, potential outcomes, options, etc, which then led to a face to face discussion and throughout that initial time we felt that he was paying attention to our concerns and the particulars of our case individually. Once we had decided to go with him, throughout the next year and a half he and his paralegal were always responsive to emails and they set up conference calls on the spur of the moment or face to face meetings whenever needed. They always provided copies of important documents and filings and I don’t recall any times where questions or requests for advice went unanswered. We never felt that we weren’t a priority or that they didn’t have time to accommodate us. Many times they went out of their way to arrange for conference calls or meetings on the same day that we made a request to have one.

- Competency/Preparedness

Shawn was always on top of the timeliness of filings and making sure all appointments were kept. In the year and a half we worked with him, Shawn was in a courtroom in front of a judge at least five times where I was able to observe him with other defense attorneys, assistant DA’s, the county DA, etc and in EVERY instance I would say Shawn was without a doubt the most competent, prepared and impressive attorney in the room. As I mentioned earlier, we had direct experience with other local attorneys and without question Shawn was much better prepared than any of the others we had dealt with.

- Results

In our experience, the end results were in line with our expectations. The jury trial resulted in a not guilty verdict and most of the credit would be due to Shawn’s preparedness and experience in working in that environment. In the other cases we felt the results were the fairest judgments that could be expected, given the circumstances. Overall we felt that Attorney Dorward and his experience with DUIs were a big help in making sure there were very few surprises along the way.

In summary, we had no regrets whatsoever going with Shawn. For representation for DUI related cases in the central PA area I would highly recommend him and would go with him again without hesitation.

Where do I begin?
My son's criminal case took 3 1/2 years and Shawn was there every step of the way! He not only was there for my son, he was there for my whole family. If convicted, my son was facing up to 40 years; as one can imagine, I had many, many questions and concerns. Often, I would text or email Shawn very late at night and he immediately answered me. Always thoroughly answering every question and addressing every concern. It didn't matter if I spoke with him over the phone or in the office, he truly and wholeheartedly listened; like he had nowhere else to be even though I know how busy he is. The time, care, and patience that he puts into his cases is unlike any attorney I've ever known.

As you can imagine, going through a trial was awful, but Shawn was amazing! He thinks quick on his feet and isn't afraid to go after the prosecution. He truly wants to make sure that his clients rights and laws are being upheld and followed. My son said that he couldn't imagine having to go through what he did without Shawn by his side.

I hope that we will never need a defense attorney again, but if we do there is no question that Shawn will be the one I call!!!
