I had a very sensitive succession claim and Ronald was able to help me get my succession claim. There are so many other firms out there, but if you want to have peace of mind and confidence that your case is being handled correctly, do yourself a favor and retain Ronald. His empathy and legal knowledge makes all the difference in the world. Thank you so much Ronald and Sam for fighting for me and protecting my rights.

Approximately one year ago I hired this tenants' rights law firm (specifically working with David Hershey-Webb) to represent me in a rent overcharge case against my landlord. He came recommended to me by 2 of my neighbors that volunteer with our Tenants' Association, but all you need to do is some very basic google searching about rent law in NYC, and you will see his name come up over and over again in important cases. FYI this firm only represents tenants - never landlords - a major plus!

This was my first time hiring a lawyer and I didn't know what to expect. David did not make any promises guaranteeing I'd win, but instead he had a very realistic and matter of fact approach to my representation, and I always felt like he was being honest with me. He kept me updated along the way and in just under 1 year, I had gotten everything I had hoped for, and I couldn't be more pleased with the services provided by David and his firm. The firm's name/ reputation carries a lot of legal weight, which I learned can be quite an important determinant in how long it takes for your case to wrap up. Billing was fair, and wound up matching almost exactly what was predicted in my initial consultation. The receptionists are friendly, helpful, and return correspondence promptly.

I will definitely return to Himmelstein, McConnell, Gribben, Donoghue & Joseph if I have any future issues with my apartment!

Thanks David!

Couldn't speak more highly of this firm. Over the past 6 years I have had the pleasure of working closely with 3 of the partners on a variety of tenants rights issues concerning the building I live in. They are smart, responsive and truly caring human beings.

I came to Sam Himmelstein when I was being thrown out of my apartment by a new landlord, who questioned my stabilization, and harassed me by a full blown construction on my rental property, making my aparment absolutely unlivable (I am a single mother with a small child and no family or support). Pre-trial work had been done, the judge' decision was favourable, she just wanted to see the proof of my stabilization, which was a one page letter from Dep of Finance. All Sam had to do was obtain that letter ( he never did, and it later took me 3 days to do that), and restore the case to the calendar/negotiate settlement. After signing and taking my money, he disappeared for 6 month, not responding to a single phone call or email. I filed a complaint. He came back, apologized, said he had been gravely ill (turned out to be a lie), and promised unidivided attention if I let him resume. He also theatened me severe consequences in case I dont let him resume working on my case, stating he has connections with judges, lawyers, etc, and forced me to remove my negative reviews of him. I let him resume working for me. He instructed me immediatey to move out of my apartment into a hotel, and said he was filing papers stating constructive eviction ASAP. I moved out. He never filed anything anywhere. He dragged his heels until the Committee closed the complaint case, became rude, obnoxious, then disappeared again, and dropped my case. Bottom line: he had my case for over a year, NEVER filed a single piece of paper, told me to move out, also ignored the landlord's offer to settle when I was in a great position, breached client/attorney privilege by communicating to the landlord info harming me, lied to the Disciplinary Committee, to the Court, and dropped my case. I lost my apartment, lost all my savings, never got compensated for staying in the hotel and the legal fees (hundreds of thousands), and I had enormous difficulty finding another attorney, because Sam Himmelstein badmouthed me as a "complainer". He is a great attorney with great knowledge and expertise, but unfortunately - zero ethics, zero sense of responsibility towards his clients, and zero compassion. He prefers to work for big clients with big exposure and fame, not for individuals of no significance.

The swift resolution to my problem was an usual for me experience with lawyers, who usually drag things out so that they can bill even the time they spend in the rest room! It was a real pleasure working with Liz Donoghue.

Sam Himmelstein was my lawyer for a rent stabilized case in which my landlord wanted to evict me after 40 years of living in my apartment. I can’t praise mr. Himmelstein enough. He explained everything in detail, was professional but sympathetic, and found a way to win a difficult case AND my attorney fees were paid by the landlord. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I get to stay in my apartment and with mr. Himmelstein on my side...I’m not worried about future harassment. I would highly recommend him for any tenant who needs a great lawyer and advocate on their side!

I am a client of this firm along with other tenants in my building, after new landlords threatened to not renew our leases in order to take over the building for themselves. I am also a lawyer and asked everyone I could for recommendations on housing attorneys for tenants; many people recommended Himmelstein and in the initial phone conversation I realized they were knowledgeable and thoughtful. And, they cared. We hired the firm jointly as tenants and our lawyer, Jesse Gribben, took care of every question and concern we have, and communicated with the landlords on our behalf so as to make our rights clear. We have realized over the months that we are in great hands. It is an awful situation but it helps to have a lawyer you trust defending you. I hope others take the same help we did.

Mr. Hershey-Webb helped my wife and I negotiate a deal with a landlord for a rent-stabilized apartment in NYC a few months ago. What began as a seemingly unattainable dream was made a reality through Mr. Hershey-Webb’s diligence, efficiency, professionalism, and experience-based expertise. From our first telephone conversation, I knew we were in great hands. Thanks to Mr. Hershey-Webb and his skillful team, my wife, three-year-old daughter and I are now living in the beautiful Greenwich Village apartment we had only dreamed of. We’ll be eternally grateful to him.

David Hershey Webb lead me through a difficult process with good advice, tough negotiating when necessary, and a cheerful demeanor. I recommend this firm and specifically David, for any tenant related issues.

Attorney David Hershey-Webb, of this law firm, just successfully concluded a protracted class-action suit for a significant number of rent stabilized tenants at the Lenox Terrace residences in Harlem. It's an historic decision and, hopefully, will pave the way for future tenant rights decisions. Mr. Hershey-Webb is brilliant, tenacious, and down to earth. In my book, he's a tenants' rights hero!

I couldn't have hoped for a better, more caring and committed attorney as Elizabeth Donoghue. We were so lucky to have had her, who we put our complete trust in, and would again.

My conversation with David Hershey-Webb was excellent- David was generous with his time, insightful, and knowledgable about landlord-tenant claims.

I had a terrible experience with this firm. They burned through my retainer in just a few weeks, caused unnecessary motion practice and violated a stipulation they instigated and made us sign. Run don’t walk away from this firm.

My first lawyer was very good. Unfortunately, my case had to be transferred to another lawyer and I was very unhappy with the service. I had pictures, video, phone records, and other documents regarding the issues with my apartment and building. Two weeks before the trial, i still had to ask if the video evidence (3+ months after asking) was admissible in court to which the response was "we" have to figure out how to provide a copy. My videos were not reviewed until the week of the court date. Maybe that is normal practice but it did not give me confidence since i wanted to be as prepared as possible while knowing what the exact plan was given my landlord situation. Once we were in court, my lawyer Ron Languedoc raised his voice and said that I was being unreasonable when i did not want to accept a settlement offer which included the landlord asking me to pay half of their insurance premium in a follow up case to which he was not the attorney. I would not recommend him to anyone.
