My experience with this law firm in White Plains, NY started unpleasantly because my minor criminal defense case was moving very slow ambiguously for over four months. I got a traffic ticket. His office entered a guilty plea to the reduced charge of VTL 1180D, speeding 85/65 zone off the original speeding 101/65 zone. There are 4 points associated with this reduced speeding ticket violation as opposed to the original 8 points. I had to pay $318 to the court, and l kept my driving license.

I’d like to share my experience with Riebling, Proto & Sachs, LLP. My case were handled on divorce matter. Mr. K Brown was appointed by the court, I applied for, because being in debt (marital), was not able to hire attorney. At first Mr. Brown tried to refuse service to me through the court for the reason he already has pro-bono client and it will be burden to him to take another case like that, his request to court was not granted, so he had to take my case.
Dealing with this firm was on the breaking point. Mr. Brown has poor communication skills or was not willing to communicate to me. Often they would ignore my questions or give insignificant and blurry answers. He went on couple of meeting with referee, he took notes, but would not stand up for me and defend me in face of unfriendly referee and hostile opposing council, who is been engaged in lies. Soon he turns me over to inexperienced associate Ms. Nina Lee. She gives me suggestions that turn out to be potentially damaging to me, only additional pressure from me, makes her confirm it with Mr. Brown and was able to correct her mistake, and no apology.
At some point I’ve got feeling like there is some kind collusion in between parties involved, especially with opposing council, on the top of biased referee. I did express to Ms. Nina Lee my concern that opposing council is engaged in lies, all she answer is that opposing council is always like that, and did nothing to confront that behavior.
At the end of negotiation, I was called to office and meat with Ms. Nina Lee and Mr. Andrew Proto. They were even not appointed to me, both of them. Mr. Brown did not show up. Both of them tried to convince me to accept unfavorable agreement with financial damage to me and potential to jeopardize my custody. Obviously they did not want to go for trial, and want to close the case. Fortunately I could take out loan to hire alternative lawyer. And new lawyer was able to negotiate solid 50/50 custody. However it was too far in the process to argue finances, and would cost me a lot, at that point. If I proceed with that I would end up paying big chunk of recovered funds to new lawyer. So my financial damages in dealing with Riebling, Proto & Sachs, LLP is $10K+ in lawyer’s fee, and unrecovered marital debt $10K+, of $20K+ total. And on the top of it during marriage my mother gave us $40K+, that at least half of it could have been recovered, so here is another $20K+ in losses. Total financial damages is $40K+.
For sure you get what you paid for. But I did not elect the law on pro-bono cases. So Mr. Keith Brown is critically unprofessional, and his performance is unacceptable. Ms. Nina Lee is amateur. Mr. Andrew Proto obviously in support of such unprofessionalism. They do get some points from the court to participate in pro-bono program, but in return they care less of those clients. I would not recommend dealing with this company as they are disgrace for profession.

Andrew Proto is a great lawyer. I hired him to help a family member and as soon as we met I knew he was the best lawyer for my family. Andrew always called me and let me know what was going on in Court. He answered all my questions. The case was a family law issue and Andrew was very professional at every step. Mr. Sachs is an amazing attorney! He had great communication throughout the entire process. We got the exact result we wanted even though I felt the cards were stacked against me. I would highly recommend Mr. Sachs to anybody in search of a lawyer.

One star is honestly too high of a rating for this company. They are bullies, they charge you for fixing errors they make, and WILL rob you they will tell you they sent you emails regarding invoicing when they do make sure things are correctly listed. I work in billing at a different law firm and can for sure tell you that once a payment is missed we are reaching out to see what is going on.
DO NOT retain this firm for custody. They may get you out of a traffic ticket but will not do well in custody. When I first reached out to this Firm back in November of 2018 the managing partner made me feel confident in my custody case. I will admit that it was a tricky one because there was a lot going on. I retained the partner and he passed my case on to someone else in the firm. I retained the Firm for $3,600 and per retainer agreement was under the impression if I was close to reaching the $3,600, they would ask for an additional $1,500. Apparently, that was not the case. I did not receive a single invoice from March (when I retained the Firm) to September. In September, I receive a phone call from the partner and was told that I had an additional balance of $12,000. The Firm misspelled my email which is why I never received invoices. He tells me he acknowledges that I never had the opportunity to drop them as my attorneys because I could no longer afford them (clearly knows HIS Firm was wrong). He then tells me he’s doing me a favor by cutting the price in half to $6,000 in addition to the $3,600 I already gave him… as if he was doing me any favors. My thing is when you see a client hasn’t paid and a month goes by… why didn’t billing reach out? Why were no letters of delinquency sent? Why were no invoices mailed? All the Firm really did was send a boatload of emails which added up to $8,605, which is more than half of the additional $12,000. The attorney working on my case charged me to fix errors that she made- I don’t know about you, but if I made an error, I cannot charge my client for it.
When I speak to the partner no 7 months later, he started to bully me into paying him a lumpsum that I didn’t have and when I explained it to him, he basically told me I should not bite the hand that feeds me.
Me and my other parent were so close to settling that the partner told me he would still represent me because it was so close to ending. He did not fulfill his word yet expects me to pay an additional $6,000 which is $3,300 over the actual work the firm did.

My license was clear with no points as he had everything reduced by 5pm . It was an absolute pleasure dealing with this law office. You will not be disappointed.

This review is truly meant to save other women from having their lives destroyed by the morally corrupt and unethical Keith Brown, an attorney who works for the law firm, Riebling, Proto & Sachs, LLP. If you are about to go through the nightmare of a contested divorce, do not even think about hiring this unhappy, unfriendly, arrogant young man who is totally unfamiliar with the laws of divorce and maintenance in the state of New York. In my case, as a senior citizen whose only income is my social security, I needed my husband's support, just to maintain my independence, and though he lives an extravagant lifestyle with his mistress, he cried poverty to the court. After eight months on the case, Mr. Brown had all the evidence he needed, to prove that my husband could well afford the support that would allow me to survive on my own, without becoming someone's burden, While that may sound all well and good, the problem was, with one more legal procedure to go, before heading to the negotiating table, Mr. Brown suddenly decided not to proceed as planned. He was finished, case closed, simple as that. You can draw your own conclusions as to why and how that could happen, but I know that Mr. Brown made a deal with the devil, the devil being my husband, whose shady business practices, along with his true income, would never be revealed at the negotiating table because there would be no negotiating. The judge didn't mind, because to him, it was one more case he could remove from his calendar, and that's what the justice system is all about now. To make a long story short, I am now divorced, with no support and thirty days to vacate what was once the marital home before my husband ran off with his mistress. Whether or not this happens to you depends entirely on how determined your husband is to not give you a dime in alimony. Meanwhile, you will still be stuck with an attorney who won't fight for you or even defend you if necessary, and believe me, it will be necessary because unlike Mr. Brown, your husband's attorney will most likely fight tooth and nail on his client's behalf, even if it means dragging you and your character to hell and back. There's so much more to this incredible but true story, but I think you have enough to be forewarned not to put your life in Keith Brown's hands.
