Ii was incredibly lucky and fortunate to have Mr. MacAluso assigned to me as my legal aid after I was arrested for a misdemeanor incident in September 2018. Throughout the following 10 months, I unfortunately had several interactions with my local precinct of the SCPD (the same officers repeatedly over and over in the same 5-mile radius of where I lived). Thankfully, I was never actually arrested again, but each time I was issued (usually numerous) "Incident Appearance Tickets", requiring me to appear at the Central Islip court house to be arraigned at a future date, each time. Because my original case was still open and pending and moving very slowly due to the court system and the DA office, Mr. MacAluso was therefore assigned as my attorney for every charge as I received them. He ended up inheriting my very large and complicated case, but he never once was judgmental or annoyed at the accumulating workload. Every step of the way he professionally gave me the best possible advice as to how to handle my legal situation. Because of the one and only previous case I had that remained pending, my current cases were being slowed down and held up by the DAs office and my court dates continued to be held up and adjourned each time, changing judges as time passed. Even when it became incredibly frustrating to not be offered a chance to get these cases closed after over a full year, Mr MacAluso remained positive and confident and often settled my fears when I was anxious and worried about the outcome. He worked hard to continue to fight for my legal rights and had to make some of the same points over and over several times to the judge(s) and different DAs at each court date. After 14+ months, they finally offered me a deal, which I did not feel very good about and instead of pushing me to accept it(and therefore be done with me) , Mr. MacAluso agreed that he didn't think accepting the offer would be in my best interest. The next morning when I arrived at court, he already had it worked out before 10:00 am and got the DA to concede to drop every single charge I had, and I only had to accept one plea. He was able to get over 10 (originally unfair) charges completely dismissed. I had not even hoped for such a great outcome as this as I honestly didn't think it was even possible! Throughout all of this I can honestly say I have lost any faith I had in our legal system, as I was disappointed in almost every aspect. Mr MacAluso was the sole positive aspect of my past year of legal troubles and I am so thankful and blessed that I happened to get him assigned to me and therefore have him help me through this. I would 100% recommend him for anyone in any legal situation or trouble that needs to hire an attorney or has any legal questions or concerns. He is knowledgeable and truly cares for his clients and their cases. I hope I never need to use his services again but if I ever find myself in that situation, I truly am not as scared or anxious to face something like that because I know I would be able to get through it successfully with Mr. MacAluso representing me.
