I have worked with Karen to improve the state of knowledge of Bankruptcy attorneys throughout the country. She "keeps up" on the law much to the benefit of her clients, while many attorneys don't research the law until there is a problem (good lawyers avoid problems). Her service as a Judge is impressive because it is a hard job where she must make decisions about important and difficult matters and disputes. Someone like this deserves respect and you are lucky if you become her client.

When I get calls from people in Klamath Falls looking for a bankruptcy attorney, I always send them to Oakes Law Office. Karen has a national reputation but is never to busy to help other less experienced bankruptcy attorneys with questions. She is extremely client focused.

Her office got us screwed up on a decision regarding a permit issue. After the trial, she said a decision will be mailed, if not received in 30 days contact her office, We did not receive any notice within 30 days and called her office, no decision has been made, please call back. We wait a week and call, no decision has been made please call back, again we wait a week and call back, this went on for about 2 months. After not hearing anything from them we figure nothing came from the trial. We then get a notice from the county that we have 1 week to come into compliance. We then call Karen Oaks' office to see why we haven't received any notice, after some talk it was discovered that THEY had the wrong city with the right zip code. We are now scrambling to meet deadlines and come up with money. Thanks for your ineptness and incompetence.

Karen Oakes should be investigated by the Oregon State Bar and the Professional Liabilities Fund. She is unethical and immoral. Her billing practices are fraudulent. Having support staff with no law degree or legal certification billing the rates that are billed is illegal. She should be required to open her trust account statements for review to the proper authorities.
