Alexandra M. Nelissen Is the worst lawyer I’ve ever encountered. We paid her $1500 for a misdemeanor charge and she got me the same thing I could of got myself (all jokes aside). I had a parole violation and she OFFERED help me with it. She did not tell me or my wife that she was charging us. Long story short. My wife spoke with her when I was in newton on prh (parole revocation hearing) she said she would call my counselor and tell her that she would be representing me for my hearing which was 3 1/2 weeks away. A day before the hearing something told me to go speak to my counselor to see if she did what she said she was going to do and she didn’t. When I was in Polk county jail she lied repeatly to my wife about coming to see me. She always had an excuse. Terrible liar. Her phone broke,it was dead, etc. She dropped a a friend of mine in the middle of his case. Another attorney had to get him probation on some serious charges. Now she is trying to send me to collections for a $600 bill for work she did not do. Told me she had connections with the parole board and for her calling her “connections” is $600. My parole officer had recommended I get right bacc out because I have not been in trouble for 4 1/2 years, not one violation. So I took the public defender because it almost guaranteed I was going home and I didn’t want it to prolong me being in newton for another week on 20/4 lockdown. I spoke with the judge Tuesday and was home Thursday. No thanks to Alexandra M. Nelissen

Paralegals are helpful and Karen is always on the job. Parking lot isn't the best tho hence the 4 rating.

I wish I could use negative stars. Do NOT use this place. They will add extra costs in or charge you $90 for a 2 minute email or phone call and screw you over. Then be shady as hell when it comes to disputing it. Trust me you will regret using her services

Ms. Taylor has handled 3 different cases for me. She did a step parent adoption, a name change, and my divorce. I was always kept in the loop about what was going on and phone calls were always returned within 24 hours. She made very certain that I knew everything that I was signing and made certain I got the best of what was in my rights.

This law office is a joke.. When I hired Karen Taylor I had very specific and EASY tasks to accomplish. We asked her to have the decree modified so that we had split transportation, every other tax year, joint custody, major decisions notice between parents, and some specific things in the previous decree removed. None of these things were done, ZERO.... She charged us over $2000 to accomplish nothing. Here are the words literally strait from the decree:

"Petitioner shall retain primary physical care and the terms of the visitation shall remain unchanged from the previous decree"

Unchanged!!! What did I hire you for?? So basically none of the tasks were accomplished but some how there was a bill for over $2k. The previous decree had very ridiculous demands, Karen should have seen these demands and had the best interest of us in mind, but there was no mention of these demands or fixing them. We relied on her for her legal knowledge, she did not pass along any info regarding our best interests. She even had my fiance sign the decree that said nothing was changed and then has the audacity to say that "you signed it". We signed a bunch of crap and believed that she had our best interests at heart.

This firm will take your money and not provide results. They won't give call backs. Karen is NEVER available. When I called to try to dispute the decree and their work the call back came from Karen's attorney. So if you want to be made out to be the bad guy, and have your Attorney's attorney call you, then go ahead and hire this joke of a law firm....

DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR CASE!!!!!!!
