During my conversation with John, he educated me on a few things. The most important thing is the Peterson Law. If you have children going to college you have file in court every year before the school year begins otherwise your ex does not have to pay for that year of schooling. John explained the law at great lengths and included the whole thing in the petition. There was no way that I would have known about that. My next education came with filing the petition. John let me know that petitions and motions all need to be filed electronically. John made sure to remind me to file a Notice of Motion/Petition which basically lets your ex know that you are going to court.

I have to tell you at the end of the day, the best bang for your buck is going to be John because you will finally be in control of your own case and pocketbook with an attorney that actually works for you instead of wasting your time and your money.

I was charged $650 for nothing. All the paralegal did was some paperwork which was never even filed in court. Im glad I asked for a refund of my retainer when I did because otherwise the bill would have been through the roof. Definitely not worth it and will not be recommending these attorneys for anything in the future.

When I first started on my court battle, having a background as a legal assistant I thought it was a straight forward fight. I thought since my ex was not following the provisions of our divorce decree I would file the paperwork needed and a resolution would be arrived at. Ignorantly I did not expect a fight. When I realized my court battle would not be a straight forward as I had thought, being unable to afford an attorney I began looking for a lawyer to help me.

Time and time again I called attorney after attorney asking and eventually begging for help with my case. Time and time again I met with both pleasant and unpleasant legal professionals, some willing to offer advice others not even willing to speak with me without first receiving financial compensation.

During those years I fought for custody I continued to search for legal help while continuing to fight for all provisions of our divorce decree that my ex did not comply with, one main issue being child support. Eventually I was granted arrears, though not the correct amount. It was a small victory and only half the battle. The interest matter still remained and was not even being addressed.
