Patrick is extremely knowledgeable. He very quickly and easily understood the product and the mechanism in which it works. He then provided very keen insight into the ways I can use the patenting system to my advantage. He took the time to patiently answer all of my questions and explain the intricacies of the patent system. He thoughtfully lent his expertise and experience to guide me towards my vision. Patrick is wonderfully easy to work with and is invested in my product’s success. I can’t say enough good things!

Worst Patent Attorney Experience. Great place to go to if you want to waste you time. Wrong address on google and patent attorney never showed up for our free consultation.

Richard is a great lawyer but even more importantly genuinely cares about his clients.

It's easy to see why every review is 5 stars. All communication from the very beginning has been great. Richard takes the time to listen and understand everything. Everyone I come into contact with at the office is friendly and professional. Beautiful views out the 84th floor.

My experience with Richards Patent Law was outstanding.  I tasked them with a technically challenging design, for which they did their homework and understood the technology. They focused my attention on critical aspects - minimizing the time I was distracted from my business.  During this time,  I was hit with nerve-racking moments for my startup on two occasions. Patrick, Allan, and team rallied to help me make difficult decisions with confidence. It's cliche to say "We're part of your team", but RPL really did go extra miles to make me feel that way. They were the people I trusted the most, when the decisions mattered the most.  I highly recommend this team.

My companies, OVAL Fire Products and Knowlemics, have hired Patrick a couple of times to date, and the experience has been very good. His advice is always full of insight, candid, and honest.

Patrick is every inventor's DREAM patent attorney. He has an uncanny ability in forecasting the patentability of a product based on a mere pitch. If he doesn't think an idea is patentable, he'll brainstorm with you to get it there. He's a rare gem among patent attorneys.

Patrick assisted our company with our patent submission. Throughout the entire process he was great to work with. He was always very quick to respond with any questions that we had and his responses were well thought out. He took time to make sure that he understood our product and how it worked in order to ensure he was giving us the best advice possible. Patrick is very reachable, either through email, phone call, or even meeting him at his office. Even though I am sure that we are one of his smaller clients, we have never felt that he was was giving us any less attention. I would highly recommend Patrick.

Richards Patent Law has helped my business from the very beginning. Patrick has guided everything from initial patent searches, potential infringements, the provisional patent on to non-provisional patent, and trademarks. Patrick quickly and clearly determined the optimal approach for each. He also provided legal recommendations on branding, product names and packaging details. Richards Patent Law has been a vital partner to assist in the launch of my first product line. I am at ease as I progress into production and will not hesitate to contact Patrick when my next intellectual property matter arises.

Patrick and his team provided expert service and advice. From the first meeting to having the patent in hand, Patrick not only navigated the formal paperwork but provided insight and ideas into making the (now) protected ideas commercially relevant. It was a straightforward experience and we got the intended results with only one revision. Richards Patent Law is both personalized and professional. Top notch.

My experience working with RPL has changed the way that I view legal services entirely. Patrick and his team are truly remarkable. RPL has been responsive to my inquiries and clear about cost. Beyond responsiveness and transparency, Patrick has gone out of his way to provide the best possible customer service and has been a valuable thought partner in my pursuits. Additionally, Patrick found time to educate me along the way on the phone, in person and via email. Through founding RPL, Patrick is dispelling many of the stereotypes embodied by the countless number of attorneys that think in terms of fees rather than in people.

Patrick has my highest recommendation. If you have intellectual property questions, patentable ideas and are looking for a great attorney as well as a stand up guy, give RPL a call.

Patrick is my second patent attorney and I've been working with him for over 4 years now and will use one of his own quotes "unfortunately patent attorneys are like doctors, you don't really know you have a good one until you can compare them to another.."

Patrick took over a challenging case I was struggling with under other attorney. The previous attorney wasn't bad, but after every discussion with Patrick about it I was smarter about what we were doing. After several years the patent was finally allowed and Patrick was very patient with our small company financial situation as we worked through this.

Thanks Patrick

I worked with Patrick for nearly three years pursuing a patent. During that time, Patrick provided professional guidance and always returned my inquiries quickly. His experience helped me navigate the patent process while keeping an eye on my best interests.
While I ultimately decided not to continue the process with my first patent, I'll use Patrick Richards Patent Law on my next idea.

My relationship with Richards Patent Law started over a year ago when I called to share a business idea. Patrick Richards did an immediate search on the name I'd come up with, and told me to go for it. He also gave advice about what I needed to do to make this idea real. This summer we filed trademark applications, and he also helped draft the master service agreement.

My startup, CareContent, does blogs for hospitals, so intellectual property is a huge consideration.

Some attorneys think that preventing a lawsuit should be a company's first priority. But, Patrick Richards and his team understand that, for startups, the first priority is getting clients—quickly.

I wanted our contracts to not only protect my company, but I also wanted clients to feel comfortable understanding the agreement and signing it, without endless conference calls with their legal team.

This is almost unheard of for hospitals, but that's exactly what has happened. I would certainly recommend Richards Patent Law to any growth startup.

patrick richards law pc REVIEW

Before i start my review, i will start it in an unconventional way; by suggesting a 1-2-3 step advice to whoever is looking for a law firm that handles patents and intellectual properties:
1. visit Richards Patent Law website and go in detail through its contents, particularly under "services" tab, and read all the related questions at the bottom, and make sure you read all the reviews written by clients of Richards Patent Law. 2. search and compile a list of patent law firms, and go through their websites. 3. contact the top two choices, but do not make any commitments yet. 4. contact Richards Patent Law and talk to Patrick. Then decide.

Now for the conventioal review:
The world of patents and intellectual property is vast, and the more i read about it, the more confused i got. So when i finally decided to approach a law firm to help me with a patent, i made my research, and compiled a list of some twenty firms. Then short listed them to three. I was looking for the big and powerful firms. Richards Patent Law firm was always on the side of my list simply because it was not in the area i was in, and i used its contents to guide me and educate me, so that i can understand what the big and powedful firms had to offer. Some of these firms had more than twenty "specialized" members in fields that i never even new existed. I called them and spoke to the secretaries who failed to put me in touch with the busy lawyers to speak to, but would arrange for an appointment , but one lawyer did talk to me very briefly and suggested to visit the firm. I visited two firms and had a twenty minute courtesy meeting, after which i was alerted that if i wished to contiue there would be an hourly charge. So i left the office to restudy their offer and approach. One thing i remember: i was intimidated, and more confused than ever. Then i decided to call Richards Patent Law, even though it is in another state just to satisfy my initial comfort with its website content and approach.
When i spoke to Patrick, everything changed instantly. For the first time, here is someone who in a few minutes was able to understand what i wanted, and very briefly suggested the possible options available, yet giving me all the time to express myself freely, and he respond in a way that matched my intellectual and conceptual understanding of the the issue at hand. So he used simple terms to explain technical definitions, and has this incredible ability to sense if you actually understand the issues he is explaining, and following his discussion. By the end of a 45 minute tel call i had no doubt he was the man. To describe all the positve things i have to say about Patrick would take forever, and thats why i suuggested to read all the other clients reviews. I second and agree with all what they said collectively: knowledgable, efficient, punctual, sincere, committed, resourcefull, trustworthy, straightfull approach, available when needed, are some of the words that come to mind to describe him.

I’ve worked with Patrick Richards as an independent inventor on a couple of different patents. I found his insights and advice very helpful in filing successful patent applications and I recommend him for his skills. As a professional in semiconductor manufacturing, I‘m confident his experience and ability would support a wide range of corporate IP services.

Patrick Richards understands well the dynamics and the intricate relationships of the Business, Engineering and the Legal environments and has perfectly incorporated them all into his profession. In the last 5 years since I've started working closely with both Patrick and Alisha, Richards Patent Law firm has been an amazing partner in providing my business with the highest level of professionalism, knowledge and guidance. Patrick brings the highest level of business acumen and creativity to our inventions. He does not just see the potential of the idea for a new product or service, he actually is able to translate each of the inventions into a forceful legal document, and a visually compelling asset. One huge advantage of working with Patrick is his ability to interview and consult the client using the simplest terms. He then delivers the most professional legal advice, mindful of the expediency of the end-product. He is personable and listens well before taking an informed position. In short, he is a pleasure to work with.

When I finally decided it was time to get patent protection for my idea, I went to the internet to start my search for a lawyer. I was immediately overwhelmed by the shear number of patent lawyers out there. Although, Patrick seemed to continually pop up in my searches. This was my first time getting a patent and I was looking for a lawyer who was willing to put quality time on an amateur inventors idea. Patrick seemed exceed this qualification, and upon our initial contact he was easily able to understand and conceptualize my idea. He is very easy to work with. He took the time to listen to all my questions and concerns and his feedback is incredibly insightful. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found a lawyer like Patrick to guide me through what is otherwise a rather intimidating process. Patrick also made it clear that filing a patent is only part of the process and ultimately the goal is commercialization to some degree. To this end he introduced me to his other business contacts who provided great input and expertise. They have even opened up possible avenues to commercialization. Patrick has been an incredible asset to have and I would recommend anyone who is considering patent protection to get in touch with Patrick.
