Called twice. Urgent. No call, no messages, no emails. Nothing. She must be out of business. If not, she should be.

Didn’t get the best advice, sorry that money was not returned that was paid in earnest faith. Wouldn’t recommend. Ended up hiring another attorney.

Amber Blackford is an unethical and harassing Attorney. She is currently acting as a property manager and an attorney and is attempting to extort money from my husband and I.
She, her practice and her clients have been reported yet Amber and her office remain highly unprofessional and continue to harass us.
Me and my husband went to Amber to help us get custody of my husbands daughter. When we met with Amber she made everything sound good and said we had a great case and was on the same page we was. To put it all short as days went by she called frequently to request more and more money, mind you she was doing nothing for our case, we was sending her pictures and information to save money. We continue to put money into our account and somehow it was always running down close to nothing. A week before our big heairing we went to talk to her and drop off more money, we asked what the plan was and she started that right now she has no plan and thinks we should go for joint custody. In the beginning she was totally different and seemed to be on top of things. She would never call to inform us on anything it was just about money. We decided a week before our court her not having no plans was enough and we decided to go to a better lawyer. That day we got a receipt printed off showing everything up to date, our account had $550 still left and was told we would get a check a couple weeks later in the mail. I called today to ask if I can just stop in to pick it up and was told I now owe 300 something, what cost 850 dollars after we let her go!!! Do not hire amber, she will make it all sound great in the beginning but is a money hungry lady.

Amber was very straight forward and to the point. There was a lot of reading and such you had to do to go through the bankruptcy and she was very knowledgeable. Every single concern or question, we had, was addressed in a timely manner. Her staff was also very helpful when Amber herself was unavailable. They all made it a lot less stressful than I ever imagined.

I would highly recommend Amber Blackford to any one that is in need of a great attorney. She is very intelligent and reasonably priced. She has represented me on bankruptcy and my divorce and she did an excellent job. She is very courteous and takes the time to explain to you anything you may be confused about so you can understand better what is going on. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney.

After a recommendation from a friend, I hired Amber Blackford to deal with my custody case, around Nov. 25th. I was trying to get full custody of my boys, from their mother. I told her everything I had against them. She proceeded to tell me she thought we had a good case. So I put the $750 down for the retainer, and let her get to work. All the while I was sending her emails, and giving her the evidence that I thought we would need in court. I get told in that my escrow account is getting low, around Feb 26th, so I stop by and drop off $300. This is all before we had even gone to court. Amber asks that we do a deposition, with my ex and her current boyfriend. We discuss it for a bit, and finally I give the go ahead. Her secretary then calls me a few days before the deposition, saying that to continue, I would need to drop off a check for at least $850. I tell her that since I will see Amber at the deposition in just 2 days, and that I would give her a check there. They inform me that they need the money before the deposition. So now I have to find time to make a 40 min round trip to her office, wasting my time and gas, when the next day I would be seeing her at the court house. I make the drive up there, and drop $1000. The next day at the deposition, she is going through her questions, but not getting into any of the real tough questions, she doesn’t ask many of the things that we had previously talked about. She honestly looked like she had not prepared for this at all. During the deposition, she pulls me out of the room a few times, the final time she decides NOW that we don’t have a case. Never once had she ever said anything about her having doubts on the case, the entire time she kept saying we have a case. I feel like she really was just in it for the money. The horrible thing about it, is she knew my money situation, I am a disabled vet living off my disability and my Post 9/11 GI Bill (school money), which is all the income I have coming in. They insisted that I come and make a payment instead of dropping off a payment with her the next day, and that day is the day she decides we don’t have a case. That was about a two months ago, and since I have not received a single phone call, email, or anything about where we go next. I finally got a phone call after I called her, she informed me that since 3 weeks had went by she would have to review my case, and then let me know what happened. That May 25th and I have not heard anything back from her.
The billing is also not handled very well at all. The bill that I received never included any other work than what Amber supposedly had done, despite the fact that I know her secretary did a lot of it. The secretary claimed that anything the she had done, is not billed, just the portion that Amber had done, which made no sense to me. It seemed like the secretary was doing a lot of the work, and then since Amber looked over it and they would then charge for the full amount like Amber had done it all.
I get that sometimes cases can fall through when something pops up, but as far as I can tell nothing new came up. Since she didn’t respond to me I have no way of knowing, and have to go off of what I saw. I would not recommend her to anyone, I feel like she used me to get my money, while never intending to follow through. To take advantage of people for money, especially when you know they are on limited income, is a disgrace.

Do not hire. I have known Amber for many years. She represented me through a bankruptcy in 2010. Due to her error on my means test I was not paying enough $$ to the Trustee in a chapter 13 and was forced to go ahead and file a chapter 7. When it's all said and done nothing I can do. I believe because of this she did represent me at a discounted rate in a custody matter. Over the course of about a year I paid her roughly about $1200 and never accomplished anything in my case. About a month before our court date and having an outstanding bill of about $300 with her office I questioned how they determined the amount of time charged with phone calls. I had worked out a payment arrangement on my balance and yes I was a week and half late on paying... She withdrew from my case. Never called me. Never sent me a final bill and sued me in small claims for roughly about $1100. I have been dealing with this since July. Keep in mind my outstanding balance was around $300.

Great lawyer! Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I was assisting some family members with legal matters and they needed things explained to them in very simple terms. She was very good and patient with them. She seemed to genuinely care for them and helped them with their bankruptcy. She explained the differences between bankruptcy chapter 7 and chapter 13, gave them a packet of information, laid out a simple timeline, explained what they needed to gather and how to organize everything. She was very reasonably priced and up front with all fees. Nobody wants to have to file for a bankruptcy but if it is needed, Amber Blackford will help you!
