Cannot believe this joke of an office is in buisiness here. What a shame to this city! I do not know about the rest of these clients but we will not allow this office to get away with their neglect and lack of professionalism. This office took advantage of my elderly grandmother and pressured her into signing a contract with another party among many other failings that fall under the standard of ethics. As everyone else claims, the legal aids and front desk is beyond useless, rude and simply a bunch of nitwits. Fred and his crew like Bill Casey are sham artists and truly incompetent.
What they have done is illegal in multiple statutes. Like some other clients, we gave them a chance to redeem themselves but they failed miserably of course. Was not a surprise as we were prepared with this expectation.
I can honestly sit here and state that we endured exactly every other complaint posted in all these reviews but I do not have time to write it all.
People need to simple steer away and continue your search for proper representation! Going into this office with caution will 100% guarantee you theft, lies, contracts that are not honored or executed professionally and do not think for one minute that this office will care about your best interests, even when, yes this will sound crazy but it's true, life or death of you or your minor child.
If there is justice that takes place in this city, you will all be saved from this office when I am done with them!

Fine for your mortgage attorney needs. Never seemed to go the extra step to help out though.

excellent attorney in his practice, he has been in the area for years. a trusted lawyer that is cost-effective that can work any number of cases, be sure to check out his website and if you are shopping for an attorney talk to him. Add him to your list. a very friendly personable attorney to work with, who really knows his business.
Had horrible run ins with this man. Poor lack of professionalism and was always behind.

Can't say good or bad about this attorney because I met another attorney at xlanders office to close on my house.

HORRIBLE communication. Needed a simple mortgage modification done. Took three weeks of calling and then almost two weeks of my lender calling them before any service was given. They already had all of our information from when the original mortgage was written last year. Was a simple modification. 10 mins of work and charged $400. I should have listened to the other reviews and warning from others in the realty community.

I am a Real Estate Salesperson in the area of Oneonta NY. I have only used the Oneonta Location of Xlander Law. The staff at that location has been phenomenal. Many of my clients have also used the practice and all have had great experiences.

Most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. Over one year ago I closed on a property and still have not received my proceeds check. No one who can help me is ever in the office even when I go in there. Stay away!!

I am a real estate broker in the Greater Binghamton market. Fred and the attorneys of the firm have been handling my transactions for decades. Their prices are the lowest and when its necessary they can close something quick. Many of my transaction can be complicated and I can always ,count on the Xlander Law firm to get me through it.

They are the most unprofessional law firm I have seen. They avoided my calls consistently. They dismissed my requests to have some idea of what my closing costs would be prior to the day of closing. They acted as if it was a bother and in fact they refused to answer my calls...to only charge a lot more than anticipated as I sat there to sign papers.... they actually found a flaw in my credit and never called me...instead... they called my lender never allowing me to look into it when in fact it was a mistaken entry. Silly me...I thought it was just an unusual unlucky occurance so I used them a second time...gave them a chance to do better... you guessed it ! They were worse the second time... they have no business being in business !!!!! They are terrible !!!!!

Directed me to there officice from my realtor, doesn't check on the status of the paperwork, doesn't return calls and had to explain the situation every time I called like it was the first. Talked to secretary for 5 minutes she then patched me through to the legal person and not only didn't she know why I called she didn't even know my name.....frustrating from the very start and no improvement through the entire process...find someone else save yourself the headache.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM. You have been warned. My husband and I used Xlander's when we were buying our house. We had two glaring problems during our buying process. It took them over 2 months to let us know we needed to order a survey. Our assigned paralegal called out sick right before the holidays and didn't even bother telling us or asking any of his coworkers to take over our file. By the time all of our paper work was in, our interest rate had expired and went up enough to cost us $10,000 over the life of the loan. Luckily the lender worked with us and extended our rate, but not before I had to make a dozen phone calls and beg. The second issue was that they had taken long enough for us to go into the new year. We ended up having to pay an extra $2,400 in unforeseen closing costs for property taxes that are due every January in New York. They are chronic f*** ups, and even our lender, Navy Federal, said they take forever to respond to anything.

Note, I would not give it one star but had to click it to post this review. Having managed lawyers for 22 years, I have never in my life seen such an inept lawyer and law practice. Very un responsive. Had to write and place many calls to get a response and even then it was from the paralegal who did not always know the answer and/or provided wrong guidance. His firm was aware of problems with the contract and closing and there was never a sense of urgency. He provided guidance only to one of the many outstanding issues. Multiple phone calls and emails went unanswered. They talk down to their clients and are unprofessional to the point they are dismissive of their legal needs. Xlander sent over some attorney to closing who I never approved to represent me and who was not not provided any authority to do anything other than notorize the closing papers. A post closing document was needed because the buyers backed out of agreement, there were last minute legal issues and the atty sat there and never advocated. The attorney went on to say he was handling the closing as contract worker and did not get paid enough to handle the complex situation. There were no discussions of atty client contracts between me and the firm despite me asking several times, there was no indication of their rates despite me asking several times. Yes, one might ask why I kept them on board at the end, it was because we were at the end with an out of town risky and edgy buyer who had mortgage approval issues and if anyone knows the area, it takes an out of town buyer to afford anything in the area because the locals have no money and can't sell their own property because the area is so economically depressed. So rather, than bring in a new atty 5 days before closing, it was suggested I hope for the best as bringing in a new atty would delay the closing with the possibility I would risk loosing the deal. Will be reporting this firm to the bar as it was utterly shocking at the level of in ept handling. When I checked around the area, many commented and laughed at how bad the firm was. With the exception of April who was actually a breath of fresh air and quite intelligent and the receptionist who was always jovial, the rest of the people which were administrative in nature I spoke with were lackluster. Do not use firm at all cost.

Attorneys did not respond to (multiple) emails asking for them to follow-up on something that should not have even needed requesting, (but rather SHOULD have been taken care of automatically). Inadequate representation is an understatement.

Do not use these guys for anything. We had 3 closings with these guys in the past. The last one was disaster. No response, unprofessional staff, fees higher than normal,...Had to wait for 5 weeks to get my deposit back. And at the end they tried to hide one of our deposits (1800$). Never again.

We were steered to Xlander's office by our realtor, and had no prior knowledge of the firm. They were average in their handling of the closing, although the fees were about 30% higher than we have paid in the past. However, when we attempted to have them follow up on post closing issues, it was extremely difficult to get a response from the attorneys -- it took over a month to finally get a second-hand message that they would not help with what is a fairly routine issue. I really cannot recommend this office and suggest you look elsewhere for your real estate needs.
