During Settlement conversations, my financial advisor was excluded, and there were huge issues with being awarded retirement accounts, because they are pre-tax money if used before age 67. So on paper, what looked equitable was actually not equitable at all, which she surely knew yet chose to say nothing. My financial person would have pointed this out, yet both HJW and opposing counsel refused to admit her.
Then, after settlement, I was pressured into signing a quitclaim deed and have it available to my ex at the lawyer's, when no order was in place to get my name off the mortgage! So my ex could have just stopped paying and I would have been on the hook. HJW also wrote some meaningless drivel into tge Settlement Agreement about "open and reasonable" child visitation. It's been five years since I saw or spoke to any of my offspring since there was no enforcement.
Finally, there was one last joint tax refund. We were directed to split it, but the IRS check had both our names with the word "and" between them, meaning we both had to sign. HJW encouraged useless back and forth on this topic, effectively siphoning away my share of it in the end. I only found out afterwards that I could have signed a Power of Attorney document and had her and the ex take care of splitting the check at our former bank. She kept billing me for all this waste of time too, when her contract clearly says she has no more interest in your case post-settlement unless you sign another contract. So basically just another way to keep me paying and strung along.
