DO NOT TRUST THIS ATTORNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was unfortunate enough to have hired Robert Boyer and felt so taken advantage of and disrespected that I had to pass along the warning to others in hopes you don't have to go through the same stress that I have!
Robert Boyer, in my opinion, is one of the greediest and shadiest lawyers I have ever met and should not be trusted. I paid him a large amount for a service that he did not provide (in fact I did all the work except mail in one document) and once he was paid, his friendly candor went out the door and he became belligerently angry with me over the phone while I was trying to explain to him how I was more anxious/stressed working with him than I was before hiring him.
He told me that his payment for the lack of work he put into my case my up for the work he put into cases and wasn't paid for. However, if the amount of work he puts into other cases was anywhere like mine, than I suppose he must have lost a great deal of cases (perhaps a better reason to not hire him?). His comment insulted me personally as I had handled 90% of my case alone before even hiring him, all while suffering through some of the worst symptoms of my disability. It got so bad that I felt I had to hire an attorney because I didn't think I would be able to speak for myself let alone show up to the court.
He made me drive to visit him (harder than it seems with what I'm going through) to have a very brief meeting that could have been dealt with over the phone. When he would call me, it was to notify me about mail I had already received from Social Security the weeks before. He never addressed my concerns about my case during the little time I worked with him and more often talked about how something I said reminded him of someone in his family. I tried to sincerely and honestly display my concerns with him and he refused to waive/reduce his fee even though he hadn't done any work. This is shady and greedy behavior that should not be rewarded. I am the one who has had to learn this lesson the hard way, so please take my advice and don't hire this attorney.
This attorney claims to fight for the disabled and to help ease the stress of the case and yet he has made things incredibly worse. Again, I highly suggest you look elsewhere for an attorney. He took my money and ran. I have less faith and respect not only for the "justice" part of the justice system (and lawyers in general), but humanity as well. I have been emotionally scarred by this man and I hope my lesson can serve to anyone else who might be frightened and nervous to go through the courts/appeals process alone. I really hope you can find proper legal help, but trust me when I say this man is not who you should be working with. Save yourself the time and worry, look anywhere else. Good luck to you!
