We used this law office to close on the sale of our last home in 5/2019. We previously used this law office when we purchased the home in 3/2012. Nathan Runde was who handled our most recent closing. On the date of our closing we were informed that the title company on our house loan prior to refinancing with Dupaco hadn’t completed the paperwork correctly (we refinanced after Dutrac sold the loan as the company was not local and we had a few issues with them regardless of paying timely every month). We were relieved when we were informed we could still close but would need to put $500 in an escrow account with the law office. This was a “retainer fee” for their office in case the title company refused to complete the paperwork correctly and their office had to do it. We were assured that we would have it back in about 2 months and if their office did need to complete the paperwork it would cost around $300 but the other $200 would be returned. Two months go by and my husband called their office and left a message for Nathan. We also sent emails. We didn’t hear anything back. We then contacted the realtor who sold our house and he reached out to him. Our realtor informed us that he said the other company did complete the other paperwork and everything was good to go and we should receive our check for $500 shortly (2-3 weeks). We now wait 5 weeks. Still no check. More emails/voicemails. All unanswered. Contact the realtor again. He gets in touch with Nathan and we get informed that it will be here in about a week. That was over 3 weeks ago. I reached out to my realtor after that week had passed since Nathan has never responded to our emails or voicemails. He gets in touch with him again and now the story is the previous title company has the money and hope they release it soon. The paperwork/contract we signed to put the money aside clearly states that this money goes to Clemen’s Law Offices in case they have to do work so they get paid. So blaming the title company doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

But regardless my biggest issue is there is no communication. If the paperwork didn’t get completed that’s fine. I understand what it was like to work with that mortgage lender/title company hence why we refinanced. But it takes a few minutes to type an email just updating us of the situation. But no returned phone calls or emails. It’s been over 4 months without an update and our only updates are coming from our realtor who is the only one who seems to get in contact with him. And we have no idea what the actual issue is. And it’s a shame as we had no issues with our first closing with this same business and my husband and I are still young and will likely move 1-2 more times in the future as our family outgrows this house. But I will not be returning to this company for my future house closings. To me it felt like he got paid to do the paperwork to sell the house and now he just doesn’t have the time of day for us. I have accepted the fact we likely won’t see that money but I just hope the paperwork was in fact completed so we don’t run in to this again when we go to sell. But honestly we won’t know until we sell I’m sure at this point. This review is to inform people of our experience. And I would have been fine waiting a year for the return of our money or for the paperwork to be completed if he had just contacted us to update where we were in the process. Even if they needed that retainer to do so at least let us know. And I would have left a favorable review but a lack of communication and changing dates (given to our realtor) has just put a bad taste in my mouth and I felt the need to share with others our experience. Certainly if things change and he magically communicates with us, we get updated paperwork, or the retainer fee I will certainly update but as of 10/1/19 this is current status. Thank god for our realtor who has continued to work with us regardless that he is not currently getting paid to follow up. He will definitely continue to have our business and recommendations as a result.

They were very expensive, and didn't help me at all with my divorce. It seemed like everything was pushed back. She didn't even file child support papers for me and we were in battle for 3 years. She wanted her money but didn't want to fight to get me any. Run to find someone else!!! And we agreed on a majority of the divorce. I would hate to see what a battle of a divorce would cost.
