Althoughy my ex-husband and I both no longer reside in the state of Illinois, Winnebago County retains jurisdiction over our divorce / child custody case from 2013. In the last two years (while living abroad) I have contacted DOZENS of lawyers in the Rockford area with my messy child custody case, which could turn into a potential custody battle. He quickly drew up a settlement agreement for my husband's attorney and assisted me in a hearing for termination of maintenance that had carried over from my old attorney, with no loss of my monthly benefit as a result.
