Recently I had a serious misfortune happen. I am involved in a continuous divorce with a child involved. Apparently as a strategy, the woman I was married to falsely accused me of criminal behavior to discredit me and gain total access to our home and full custody of my child. My 19-year old son got involved in a fight on the UW-Madison campus. He was arrested and charged with substantial battery (felony) and was facing a two year suspension from the university. I needed a really good criminal defense attorney to navigate this bad situation.

I called several law firms to get some guidance and they all highly recommended Murali Jasti to handle the case. Murali acted fast to start improving the situation. He went to the Dane County Jail (on same day as initial phone call) and talked with my son. His expert knowledge of the legal system got my son an expedited initial hearing. This meant that my son only had to spend one night in jail (could have been 2-3 nights). Murali work diligently over the course of the legal proceedings (several months) to get my son the best possible outcome.

In the end, Murali was able to get the criminal charge reduced to a misdemeanor battery and got my son into the Deferred Prosecution Program (a first offender program). This program allows my son to perform various activities (community service, alcohol abuse treatment, etc.) which upon completion allows the charge to be dismissed and removed from his permanent record. Murali also negotiated a case settlement with UW-Madison that resulted in a one year suspension (the university is tough on crime).
