Legal service for low income individuals. Excludes criminal and malpractice cases. You have to call the intake line based in Southfield, MI to open a file, which is staffed by attorneys. The wait time has been cut in half because of new intake hours. They also have a "self help clinic." Cases are evaluated and you may be assigned to the clinic. This happens when the staff attorneys have full loads or depending on your situation, you may be able to prepare your own forms utilizing the Michigan Legal Help website. The clinic is designed to help those that have access to a computer and have a fairly simple divorce or custody issue. The Lansing office has some of the hardest working attorneys in the Lansing area. The Lansing office provides service to Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Livingston and Shiawassee counties.

Didn't like that office is only accessible for information only, they only direct you to the customer service hotline for referrals on Legal Aid help..Was a waste of a trip to visit their location

Not helpful at all! They basically turn you away. You will get a card with a number and when you call the number the recording will say they are too busy to help and then hang up on you.
