My husband and I had our first sit down with Mr. Chatterton in October of 2018. We had went rounds with my husbands ex-girlfriend for the 2 years prior, spending close to $10,000 on an attorney that got us nowhere.

After our consult with Mr. Chatterton, he seemed to be very straight forward. He gives honest advice and always puts our situation in perspective. Mr. Chatterton will tell us our odds in court, he will provide examples of cases with specific judges. Mr. Chatterton is very knowledgeable as to what the judges are like and how they handle situations.

We have had Mr. Chatterton for over a year. He helps keep things quiet, knowing our wants and making sure we don't fall on the short end of the stick. Mr. Chatterton gives the needed advice whether he makes money from the case or not. He could have told us to go ahead and pursue something, knowing we would fail, just because he could make some money.

When putting your custody case in someone else's hands, you look for honesty, sternness, professional, knowledgeable advice, all of which Mr. Chatterton has given to us. We couldn't be happier.

I had spoken with mr Chatterton on the phone about my case. It is a very difficult one, I hired him after firing my last attorney on this case. His advice seamed to change after I got to his office. I'm not sure if after having everything in front of him , he had to change his advice, or not. I have a very difficult divorce I have just laid before him. I'm giving three stars now, as I've only had one interaction with him. I need a tough attorney he seems to be the man for the job. Time will tell. His office staff gets five stars, those ladies are very professional, very knowledgeable in their duties. Very pleasant to deal with. I will update this review as the case progresses UPDATE 1-19-20 Soooo after having been told that I needed to be in court at 1:30 pm I get there to find out my case was not to be heard till 3pm, my ex seemed to be privy to this not me, and it went downhill from there. Mr Chatterton did not present information to the judge that i felt would have been pertinent to my case. He told me my wife made statements that she later claimed she never made. He then prepares a document to send to her attorney in my behalf with statements i made to him in confidence, . I sent him an email orderi g a cease and desist command, that i am on my way to a hospital and don't know when i would be able to contact him. I get an email a week later from his staff stating he needed to know exactly what paperwork i would need forwarded to my home. Really? How about ALL of it?? Dont waste your money on this guy.

I hired Patrick based on the reviews that I saw from his clients and given the work he did for me, I would be doing him a disservice if I didn't write one of my own. I initially hired a different attorney to represent me in my custody case. I will refrain from mentioning names but it was an awful experience to say the least. My original attorney took the "I'm the attorney and know what's best for you" approach rather than listen to what I wanted for myself and my boys. He went as far as agreeing to terms that I explicitly disagreed with putting me in a huge hole in my case. I terminated his representation of me and was left without an attorney. Enter Patrick Chatterton. There were several reviews that seemed to paint the same picture I was in; already behind in the case. The results in the cases mentioned in other reviews were promising, so I decided to meet with Attorney Chatterton. I was forthcoming about everything that had already taken place as well as what could be expected from opposing counsel. He was not deterred in the least and seemed eager to represent me. This reaction during an initial consultation is to be expected from any attorney looking to be retained; I'm pleased to say that same vigor and enthusiasm carried over into the courtroom. He listened to what I had to say, offered advice based on his experience that was unbiased and straightforward, and presented my case exactly how I would've hoped for. Given my original attorney's "agreement", I was the plaintiff filing for sole custody (knowing I would never be awarded that), but somehow wound up with supervised parenting time at the sole discretion of the defendant, my boys' mother. Attorney Chatterton, unfazed, took over and turned things around. He was able to highlight inconsistencies in the other side's argument and ultimately obtain the result any working father could ask for. He took a potential nightmare situation and got me the time with my boys I wanted, despite the aforementioned adversity as well as questionable ethics from opposing counsel. I would not only recommend Attorney Chatterton to anyone in a difficult custody case, I would hire him again myself if the need ever arises.

The secretary was very rude I was only calling to retain some information. When I looked up this firm I clearly states free consultation. When I call the secretary had said it was $50 just to ask question I confronted her about the free consultation on the website she quickly said it was a new policy and hung up on me! Great attorney! I’ve used many over the years, he’s one of the best! He’s aggressive and straight to the point. Many attorneys out there are glorified secretaries with a law degree, lazy and unmotivated. They’ll over promise and not deliver once the check clears. Chatterton isn’t that way, it’s hilarious to watch him go after your opposition in court, he isn’t bashful. Hire him if you want a straight forward fighter!!

My father-in-law hired you , and we know he had paid you, but you say he owes you , well he passed away and he was going through a extremely bad divorce on top of elderly abuse , and you took your sweet time and kept post pointing the divorce that should've been done and over with especially since there was no little kids involved, and now his blood kids are left with nothing , you couldn't even give your condolences to us kids over the sudden passing of my father-in-law , , A farm and house my husband and his sister grew up I.nand now this woman and her abusive son gets to live in and have everything cause you wasted your time and and my father-in-law felt like nothing was going his way and sadly his heart went out, we would also like to get all the paper work if we can on the proof showing that his two kids are the main heads of his of his life insurance

The absolute worst attorney ever. He claims he doesnt get emails and or paperwork so he can email back and forth and run up your bill. I had to go back to court several times over stuff he hadn't sent me and him claiming he never got it. He also talked me into going to an arbitrator for the final ruling because it would be cheaper and faster which was by far not true. My divorce took over 2 years and he kept stalling and lieing to keep milking money from me. DO NOT HIRE HIM IF YOU DO BE PREPARED.

I had three other attorneys before I was lead to Patrick L. Chatterton. I had spent over a decade battling my ex-wife about my pension. She was certain that she was entitled to more of it than she was, and is currently, receiving. I had explained and Fidelity had explained why she was getting precisely what she was entitled to and nothing more or anything less.

Well, with my current (at that time) lawyer retiring and another summons to court over the pension issue, yet again! I had to find another lawyer to represent me in the Shiawassee Circuit Court. Enter Attorney Chatterton. His knowledge of the law, his ability to express and expound on the law as it pertains to your case and the expertise he uses to convey that in a concise manner so that the judgement is pronounced in your favor, is worthy.

I wish I had been able to hire Attorney Chatterton from the very beginning. I am certain that I would have saved a lot of money and time in court!

I can't say how much atty Chatterton has done for me and my children. HE IS THE ABOSLUTE BEST. I found attorney Chatterton to be extremely knowledgeable of all of the child custody and divorce laws. attorney Chatterton told me the truth about every question I asked. He did not promise me anything or fill my head with any ideas that were not realistic or things that he could not get me. If I wanted something done he got it done. I went through two lawyers before I found attorney Chatterton. In fact by the time I hired attorney Chatterton the judge did not like me very much due to my poor choice of other attorneys. Attorney Chatterton did not allowed to judge to talk down to me he in fact stood up for me to the judge and made sure all the facts were known. I had anxiety and was extremely scared to go to court but after attorney Chatterton took my case I was so happy. Attorney Chatterton relieved my anxiety I never got yelled that again by the judge once I hired him. He was not afraid to go to court or trial he never tried to cut any deals he got me everything I asked for. I cannot thank him enough. I have used him several times during my three year strung out divorce case for several different matters. Every time we went to court he fought for me. I strongly recommend this lawyer to anyone looking for the best. I have referred several of my friends to him and they have all been satisfied as well. I also found attorney Chatterton's staff to be very friendly and also knowledgeable. After the first time at court with attorney Chatterton it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders after that I had complete faith in attorney Chatterton. He really deserves more than 5 stars. I too had scheduling problems. I called on a Thursday to cancel my Monday afternoon appointment due to my work schedule. A woman called and let me a very very rude voice-mail RE my appointment I "failed"to keep. I called back and told her I had cancelled it and she said, "I don't know who you spoke with but it was today." Then said well thanks for calling right now to cancel and hung up. I was going to reschedule but not after my experience.
