My boyfriend and I have had Sam and her staff as our lawyers for 3 or 4years now and they are hands down the best. Never at one time have we felt our case wasnt being handled the best way. If we have a question or a concern they are on top of it with answers and have held our hands thru the whole process. The whole staff knows how hard a custody battle can be and is always there with words of encouragement and a shoulder to lean on when things may get rough. They also know that it can be costly and are more than willing to set up payment plans. Which isnt very common for alot of law firms. This staff takes every case to heart. The day we hired them was the best decision we ever made. They have made this whole process so much better. Not only does the lawyers go above and beyond their jobs the ladys in the office go well beyond. Thank you all for all you have done and are doing for us. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my family or friends but this amazing group. We feel we are more than clients to them. We feel like we r family.

I feel neglected, I feel used, and I feel taken advantage of by this firm. On multiple occasions I requested clarification and did not receive an understanding of what was happening. I look at the numbers for our bankruptcy now and I feel as though I was pushed into a program that made the firm the most money. And we were a referral from a friend from law school. Also the lady that manages the office is turse, unwelcoming, and accusatory. All qualities we want in someone that is dealing with families that are in need and at their most vulnerable. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!

I chose this Law firm after my initial meeting with Samantha for a divorce. Everything after the initial meeting went downhill. There was very poor response to my emails, I was passed over to 4 different lawyers with no communication between lawyers, mistakes were made in my JOD that I had to fix. One of the lawyers was extremely confrontational, very unprofessional! Front desk lady, Brenda was probably the rudest person I have encountered in my life. I never received an invoice on how my original $1500 was used, but was then mailed an additional invoice for over $500. I would never recommend this law firm to anyone. There are plenty of lawyers out there, PLEASE do your homework before signing on with this firm.

The Smith Law Offices are absolute rock stars. They held our hand every step of the way during the most stressful time that both my fiance and myself have ever gone through in our lives. The amount of research and time dedicated to helping us with our trial to determine school district and parenting time changes was truly amazing. I know they represent a lot of clients across a multitude of cases, but it truly felt like we were the only ones. They all did a fantastic job of educating us on how the laws applied to our situation, and what we were going to do to work as a team. I have been going through an extremely difficult custody battle for my daughter as I live out of state and the case was ongoing in Michigan. I called around and spoke to different lawyers and it was clear the price tag was all they cared about. Brenda set me up for an consultation appointment for 1:30 the following Monday. I received the call exactly at the time they said they would and from the moment I explained to Samantha my situation, I knew I was in good hands. She never once sold me any dreams, was beyond realistic from the very beginning and super patient with me every time I was confused by anything during the process. She let me know what to expect and has been thorough every step of the process. They have also worked with me financially with payment plans & if anything ever came up, a simple phone call and communication it’s all it took; they were still by my side, and still working on my case diligently. When Samantha was tending to other cases, Abigail and Theresa cared for my situation and are just as passionate about it. My last hearing was with Theresa and it resulted in way more than I expected. She is very aggressive and makes sure that the truth comes on top. I continue to work with them as this case is ongoing, but I could not have picked a better firm to represent the best interests of my daughter. I’d recommend them to anyone any day!

I feel the need to edit my review after reading some of the others: Brenda may be unapologetically direct and factual (which I suppose is unappealing to some), however, that is only one aspect of her being. If you didn’t see her compassionate warm side, you weren’t looking or didn’t give her the opportunity to show it.

I hired this law office for a divorce, and am very satisfied with the result. Samantha was outstanding throughout. I did deal with another lawyer, Abigail for a bit at the start, who I believe ended up leaving the firm during my case, so I had to end up going over some things again after a little delay and many e-mails. But the experience was always pleasant. Front desk staff were good and straight forward in dealings. All in all it was a good choice at a difficult time for me. I would strongly consider hiring this firm again.

After 8 years and many attorneys later I finally found an attorney that made me feel comfortable sam was caring respectful and just all around wonderful. I never thought after this difficult case I would have a chance, but Sam and her team fought for me and I was granted full custody of my kids! I was very pleased with the Smith Law Offices. I hired Sam after disappointment with my previous divorce lawyer to complete a custody and property case. Sam was well connected with all the other lawyers, mediators and judges in the area. At least, she had a working relationships with everyone we encountered. Sam was insistent that she got what I wanted right. We filed a couple of objections when verdicts did not meet my expectations and came out on top. Fees were a big deal to me especially with my previous high dollar attorney. It seemed my last attorney charged me the max amount for any form of communication. Sam was very reasonable and uses other lawyers in her firm for different tasks. If I needed experience in the courtroom, I got Sam. For smaller tasks or rather, tasks requiring less experience, she would use an appropriate lawyer which translated to lesser costs for me. You won’t be disappointed if you choose Sam!

Charged me up the ass knowing I was a single stay at home mom going threw divorce then the receptionist Brenda would call threatening me for payment I went in and she treated me like complete garbage I was totally fooled everyone was nice until I got the big bill and couldn’t come up with a huge amount of money I sure hope Brenda is dealt with because having her at the front desk is bad for business **** Also it wasn’t offered so I got screwed but you can get a mediation for free don’t be fooled into paying $200 a hour plus more for them to have their friend do it!

Samantha did my divorce in 2010, she was very helpful, accommodating, gave great advice some I took and some I should have. This law firm does not gouge your eyes out with costs. She was so great that I recommend her to everyone I work with at the hospital and not one has had a complaint and I think at this point over 10 people I've recommended her to have used her. I'm not sure about the negative reviews but you cannot expect an attorney to work for free and if be willing to bet anyone else would charge you double plus retainer fees for every little thing.
She's now currently doing an auto accident for me and I have been nothing but pleased with how it is going and how accommodating the staff has been.
