I Just finished a case using Colwell Law Group and I must say, as someone who works with and around attorneys often, I was very impressed with Kaitlin Foley! Kaitlin was Very professional and very knowledgeable. I would refer them to anyone that is looking for representation.

I met with Kevin and his wife and they assured me the case was straight forward. I was assigned junior attorney Kaitlyn and she was a nightmare. She dragged my case out for over a year. I finally told her I was done and after 200lbs of paper proof I photocopied and turned over, many postponements, and lots of billable hours, we finally settled. All that for me to get what was ordered by the Supreme Court in the first place. BEWARE, don’t engage with them! Save your money because the only ones to win is them... off of your hard earned money. Kaitlyn was actually rude at times and she worked for me. Every time I hear their commercial I want to scream at them. Needless to say.. worse lawyers I ever met! Also watch how they bill you.. they overbill! LMD

I will agree with most of the negative reviews on here about Coldwell Law group. They represented myself in 2017 and Kevin assured that the case was pretty straight forward. Kaitlin a junior attorney was assigned to my case and it went to SH**. Mary at one point told me that she has to attend other clients to keep our conversation short while being charged for services. I would highly suggest shopping around and looking for reviews on attorneys not all take the same level of interest. Once you have signed a contract you are stuck on there mercy. I literally had to take matters into my own hands and end my contractual relationship with them, in addition I was being advised for mitigation half way into the case after spending thousands of dollars. Mitigation is free of charge and does not cost anything why wasn't this recommended before starting court proceedings ? Had my cased reviewed with another attorney and was told that I was given a run around and my case was not handled appropriately.

They handled my case very promptly and orderly, though in the end I didn't actually get a divorce.

They make you feel very welcomed at first, but pay close attention to your bill. They had turned my case over to another attorney, which they had me have multiple calls to catch him up to speed, then suddenly all this money out of my retainer was gone and when i looked at the bill they charged me for this. This is unethical, you switched attorneys and had ME catch him up and then charged me for it in the middle of a seperatio. Very disappointed. I contacted another attorney to take my case going foward, who also suggested I persue it, but who ever wins aganist a lawyer? So i figured im out the money but at least i can warn other single moms that work really hard for their money and trust these attorneys to do right for them, so please pay close attention to your bill, and if they try to switch on you, id start the conversation with im not being billed for this correct, as this isnt advancing my case in anyway. I have learned my lesson.

Kaitlyn was my attorney. She was very knowledgeable on family law and knew the answers to all of my questions and concerns. She also was familiar with my judge and my son's attorney which ended up being very helpful and got us out of the court system that much faster because she knew exactly what to expect from them.

The lawyers at Colewell law group helped me feel extremely prepared going into court when dealing with my support and custody agreements. I always felt completely confident that I was going to have a positive outcome and that they were looking out for mine and my children’s best interest the entire time. Also, they have always been extremely quick to respond to any of my questions and/or concerns revolved around my case - which I appreciated immensely !

Would give ZERO stars but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest google allows. So I was a client of theres back in 2017, and they just wanted to keep billing me invoices, and got absolutely no where with my divorce case. I spent a year calling them to continue to see what would be the next step if we went forward, all I got was "we will have someone give you a call back as soon as they are available" but I NEVER got a call back, I would have to call in and hear the same response. So fast forward to 2019, I called them back to rehire them being that they are familiar with my case, and they actually declined to help me which is extremely unprofessional. So, to sum up this review, if you need a divorce lawyer, you'll have way better luck doing it yourself or going with any other attorney. Believe me, save your money, they are just great at painting a picture of success to you in the beginning and most of their money goes to purchasing ink to mail out invoices and paying their secretary's to take phone calls, not to getting your your adequate settlement.

Beware if you ever authorize a payment for ANYONE at this group. Apparently, Kara thinks it’s legal to automatically charge credit cards without legal authorization to their clients accounts. After I had to educate this law firm employee on the legality and ramifications of her actions she reversed the charge. As a disabled veteran and single mother, I am disgusted at the flipent and nonsensical response I received from this individual. Now I have to wait for my money to be returned to me! Saying they would cover fees incurred if anything bounces or doesn’t go through. This inappropriate behavior could damage an innocent individuals credit. Beware!

I gave one star because that’s as low as you can give. No lie, I would have gotten a better divorce settlement if I’d gone in with no lawyer at all. I’m trying to get my support I pay to the other parent reduced even though I have our daughter 100% of the time. My new lawyer looked at my settlement and couldn’t believe how bad it was. One thing you will not get from these people is legal advice. They’ll spend your life savings sending meaningless letters back and forth and will give you zero strategic advice. Ive left two other reviews that were deleted. I guess we’ll see if this one makes it. The only person I’d recommend them to is my ex wife since they did such great work on her behalf.

My daughter was a client all they cared about was the money not about her or her kids. They took her money an did nothing for her. Didnt bother to show up to court the first time just called, like it was unimportant to them. I feel they are very unprofessional. We never seen the same person twice always someone different an had to explain everthing over an over again. Still have yet to see what they did for her money.

From the attorneys to the paralegals and all of the administrative team everyone has been devoted to my case, caring, and always very responsive. Whenever I called or emailed they would get back to me the same day with answers to my questions They are such a compassionate group of people who are willing to do whatever it takes to help you. They were very understanding and accommodating to all of my needs and made sure everything was done correctly. On top of the firm being well respected and competitive, I found that all of their employees really made my client experience amazing!

Horrible lawyers not prepared over charge

I've been trying to get the balance of my retainage refunded for the last 2 weeks without success. Have placed 4 phone calls and none were returned. Terrible customer service is their best attribute!

I'll never go there again. You'll be charged for everything and get nothing. It'll cost you to get rid of them too.

Although I did not end up retaining their services, I did have a meeting and I was amazed at how personable and friendly their staff is. I was in a very difficult place, and was very grateful for the advice that I received and just a kind person to listen to me even without retaining their services. They obviously care a lot about what they're doing and will try their best to help you.

I’m giving one star because I have to. The pros were the receptionist and they at least refund your balance back to you in a timely manner. Their representation was terrible and it cost me over $5,000 to end up in a worse spot than I started. I cannot believe how terrible this experience was. It seemed like my attorney was sticking up for the defendant and becoming friends with his lawyer. She seemed to know more about Connecticut family law than the family laws in New York State. I have been through an extremely difficult ordeal because of this law firm. I since applied for a public defender because I am out over five thousand dollars and in a worse position than I started in. I qualified to be represented by a public defender and she was able to fix the mess this group of representation got me into during one visit to family court. I would suggest seeing if you qualify for a public defender or using a different law firm. I am disgusted to see how much unnecessary damage this law firm caused me. They aren’t honest with you and don’t tell you what they’re doing before they do it. I am so confused to see any good reviews about this firm, it makes me wonder if they are fake reviews. I am lucky that a public defender was able to fix the mess these attorneys created; I’m still out over five thousand dollars because of their poor services. They lie to get your retainer fee and they don’t really care much about your case. This attorney almost made things even worse for me, however, I decided to stop using them or they would have had me give my ex rights he didn’t even have or try to apply for. They encouraged me to take a deal to minimize an order of protection I had against someone who was abusing me and threatening the safety of my child that he didn’t even have legal rights to. I did not want to agree to this and this attorney accepted this deal and tried to make me feel guilty for wanting more time to think about this. She also accepted this deal with a promise made by the defendant’s attorney, no actual proof that he would be going to counseling, and that never ended up happening; he continued to abuse me and threaten the safety of my child because of the modification she encouraged to be made to the order of protection. The defendant didn’t even show up to court for that hearing and I was told by my public defender I could have asked for almost anything because he didn’t show up. When I met with my public defender, her first question was why would you ever agree to that in the first place?! The public defender told me I should have never been put in that position and was under no legal obligation to allow this abuser any contact with myself or my child. This would have been absolutely horrible, he would have gained rights to our child even though he has been abusive and didn’t petition for these rights on his own. If I followed their advice, I would have literally handed everything right to him. This law firm should be ashamed that this is the “service” they provide to people when they are in need of help, support, and knowledgeable representation.

I feel they thought my case would be simple (though I walked in telling them it wouldn't before even retaining). I chose them. I read the reviews, and I was horrified by my experience. They did NOTHING but hemorrhage money on me, they got NOTHING accomplished, and belittled my case!

They do not respond to emails or voicemails, and then have the audacity to charge for multiple emails when there would have only been one had they answered questions the first time.

I have gotten more done in a week with my new lawyer then they did over the entirety of the time I was with them and spent considerably less money. Additionally, the ONLY bill I received (even after asking for them repeatedly) was after I switched lawyers and got the piddly little sum back.

I do not feel they had the compassion I needed, nor were they able to roll with how much my case changed and how fast. I was up front that this would be the case, and it still seemed to come as a surprise. If you have a case that is not cut and dry, no complications, I do NOT suggest them.

Nice people but not really helpful when you don't understand the legal aspects of the case. Would not make things easy to understand. Most work has to be done yourself.

Very professional and very effective! I am from VA and I could not drive all the way to upstate NY. They have done a great job representing me and in getting my speeding ticket reduced to a minor parking infraction. Would definitely recommend them.
