This group (specifically Vincent Capasso) represented my ex-wife in my divorce trial. Yes, trial. It was her choice to hire such an expensive lawyer ($450/hour) for what should have been a very simple divorce. A single home with a NYSUT retirement, basically two working class people with a single asset (home). The amount of paperwork that was received by my lawyers (2) literally weighed 47.5 pounds (all of which required a response) at $250/hour. Bottom line she received exactly what she would have received using a mediator. This firm took a middle class case and treated it like a Hollywood drama, driving the cost sky high with needless and redundant paperwork served by law officers/process servers, then by USPS and if that is not enough for you, a deposition hearing where I answered the same questions orally that I answered in a standard written deposition (at $700/hour with both lawyers present, plaintiff's and defendant's). You may be thinking it sounds like "sour grapes". Consider this, my first lawyer asked me where my ex-wife was getting the money to pay for this guy, he usually takes on cases where there are many assets. After paying $5,000 to her and I moved on with another lawyer at $23,000. You also may be wondering what was her cost, $60,000 and I was forced by Warren County Supreme Court to pay $33,000 of that. Either way, for you or against you, this firm sees dollar signs and they do not care where it comes from. Be prepared to pay big bucks. It would have been better for both parties and all children (3) involved to spend $83,000 on college tuition. Strongly suggest a mediator first unless your goal is to take yourself and your ex-spouse "to the cleaners" as my ex-spouse reiterated several times during the process.
