I seriously cannot recommend this man enough! I hired James about 8 months ago to help me get my children back from two separate fathers (so TWO custody battles). At the time it looked bleak, but today I have sole custody of BOTH daughters and I owe it all to him.

James is incredibly professional, but also very kind and patient. I will admit, initially I was worried that his mannerisms would be a downfall (I thought I needed a shark) but I am happy to admit I was wrong. James may not be loud and in your face, but his legal know-how and calm demeanor is actually his biggest strengths. He knows what advice to offer and in a courtroom setting he knows when to object and what to say without being off-putting to the judge. I have dealt with 6 different attorneys over the last year and James is by far the most effective.

His retainer is fair and unlike 99% of other lawyers, he doesn't try to run up your expenses with pointless tasks. He's reasonable, flexible and cares about the outcome. I will be eternally grateful for everything he has done for my family.

We provided all the paperwork, organized and highlighted. He told us of the possible out comes and we were hit with shock at court when a $200 to no alimony turned to a $1100 alimony payment. He went to court unprepared and did not perform. Did not look into bank matters he promised he would. Every month we are reminded of his lack of performance and it is painfully disappointing.Very disappointing.

I have hired Mr. Monsebroten twice now as my attorney, and I couldn't be any more pleased with his quality of work! I would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs an attorney for anything. He offers great legal advice, and he has the best prices in town. He goes above and beyond to represent you, and makes things go as smoothly as possible! James is great to work with, he listens and gives good legal advice that you can easily understand. I enjoyed his legal assistance and with his past employment history of being a prosecutor, he has a unique perspective when viewing criminal cases. Will use him in the future for any of my legal needs.

James helped me in two cases. One divorce and one false criminal. I dont think he even read any of my paperwork. He even called me and offered the number to the OR State Bar after I fired him in front of the judge. He should've given me a refund and I should've filed for incompetence on behalf of my defence. Done deal but a shame such a nice guy on outside will burn you down for cash. And I paid cash with no receipts as well. Go Elsewhere!!

RUN AWAY! Completely disorganized and zero confidence, which makes sense given his negative-star skill level. He refused to enter evidence that other lawyers have told me should have been first and foremost, including a written confession of previous abuse. He cut off testimony of his own witnesses that showed the criminal intent of my attacker, TWICE! The other lawyer literally laughed at him in court he was so bad. That day the restraining order was dropped and my attacker broke down my door, again. Police would do nothing. He tripped me, a judge wouldn't even hear my plea or look at evidence for another restraining order because precedent had been set by the judgement two days prior. It was the worst 30 min of my life and my children and I have to live the consequences of it every day. Please, just run!

Very costly... Not able to give baseline estimate for services..

Many years ago now Mr. Monsebroten stepped in front of me for protection when his client unexpectedly came at me in the hallway of the courthouse during a short recess (picture a large, angry faced man in full military whites and a chest full of medals). My attorney also stepped in quickly to prevent physical contact. My family has not forgotten how both attorneys moved forward without hesitation, putting themselves at risk for my safety- a very kind and brave thing to do. Mr. Monsebroten did appear surprised by his client's outburst; yet, his instinct was to immediately protect. We remain grateful.

James was a great attorney he help me file for custody of my children and I couldn't be more happy with his work am so thankful for all he has done

Handled a very complicated issue for me and rocked it. The chance of it not happening was huge and he made it happen.

Was very inexperienced With Restraining orders The entire process was a bad experience.
his repesation in this matter was very poor.We were left a entire yr or more believing he was working
to get a case for a appell back before the courts. This never happened he did everything leading us to believe he was working for us when all along. he seemed to be working with the other attorney to further there case, We were Paying him the other attorney was a free lawyer yet there lawoffice seemed to control all. in the end we were told by Monsebroten, James. we would probably have a ruling against us as we didn't have representation at the first trial. We were lead to believe all along upon his accepting our case that we had a fair case and all it seemed was he had worsened the problem and us loosing control of our retirement. investment and or land/hm.
