This attorney has taken a lot of money and done next to nothing. Alegria has acted so unethical and his behavior is so reprehensible that I not only demanded he withdraw (fired him) this guy went on a complete email rampage cussing me out. Alegria then (before withdrawing) has turned on me and began making false accusations that I threatened him. To be clear, Alegria was informed by myself that I intend (have already submitted) a formal complaint with the state bar. Alegria has made a bad situation worse but the silver lining to this is that I have obtained a new and ethical attorney ready to actually work. If you desire a horrific experience, hire this attorney! My suggestion is stay far away from this attorney unless you want to make a bad situation worse. Look at his record with the Idaho state bar; hire someone else!
Update as of 01-29-2019...I have filed a bar complaint and they have taken it serious enough based on preliminary evidence that they assigned an investigator to the case. Be careful if you choose to hire this person.

I looked up John online and considered hiring him because he had such poor reviews. I figured he would be super cheap because he was most likely desperate for clients and I only wanted to file a dismissal for an open case. I spoke with him and I was right, only a 1200-1500 retainer. (Most lawyers are 2000-3000 in Boise) After some consideration, I decided to proceed with the case to completion rather than dismiss. I discussed this option with John and considered hiring him but was concerned because of his poor reviews online. Because the case would be more in depth I decided to contact my last lawyer from Davison Copple Copple and Copple even though he would be more expensive. I let John know I wouldn't be hiring him. He began texting and emailing me saying he didn't believe I hired another lawyer. He accused me of simply not wanting to pay him a retainer. I sent a screenshot of emails between my lawyer and I to prove he was wrong about me. I told him that I had actually retained another lawyer and I wished him the best. He continued to harass me saying he "wasn't convinced". I asked him to stop emailing me and he went on to send two more emails to me accusing me of being dishonest. I was right that he was desperate for clients. I just didn't realize he was also psychotic. I would highly recommend not hiring this man to represent you. He is unprofessional and childish.

I had a great experience working with John Alegria. He and his staff were always available to help me navigate through the system. I would recommend to anyone needing an attorney.

Not an attorney I would ever hire again.

I had a Divorce and related Criminal case and John resolved both to my complete satisfaction. He and his staff were always available to answer my questions, even after hours, when I was stressed or frustrated. I have already referred a couple friends to John and they also liked his work. This was the first time that I needed an attorney and I hope that I never need one again. But, if I do, I will call John. He seemed to know everyone in the system and how it worked. It relieved a lot of stress.

In the process of filing a grievance with the Idaho State Bar against this attorney, Alegria. My husband and I hired him in a desperate moment without reading his reviews first. That was our first mistake. John unfairly took advantage of our entire retainer for next to no work on our custody case. When we respectfully disputed the charges, referencing back to the Idaho State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct, Mr. Alegria started to assassinate our characters with name calling and disturbing behavior, as you can see here from some of his responses to his reviews. Do your research on this attorney first! We wish we would have.

Mr. Alegria helped me tremendously with my case involving custody of my children. He was very attentive, professional and accurate with his information. Between Mr. Alegria and his staff, I was guided (at ease) through the process and very happy with the results. I appreciated that his office was always available for me. He is very dishonest. Stole a ton of money from me for zero work. This guy is a royal creep and shouldn't be allowed to practice law.
