Talked to him once, said he would take my case draw up some papers and get back to me. Tried getting a hold of him for 3 weeks now. Waste of my time! Least he could’ve done was say he wasn’t taking the case.

I used him for a misdemeanor probation violation case in Boise county. He was very expensive and didn't get me anywhere near the results I wanted or deserved. I informed him I wanted no jail time, but I was willing to do road crew, community service, classes, etc. The only thing I got was 30 days in jail and my probation reinstated. Granted, this was almost 10 years ago. Still thought I'd share my experience.

Client oriented law firm.

I was in an incredibly vulnerable and fragile situation when I reached out to John and hired him as my attorney. His office acted carelessly with communication when he suddenly got sick and wasn't responding. Instead of notifying or referring to another lawyer they avoided phone calls and email correspondence. Once when I was in their office the legal assistant started yelling and chastising another client to tell him that he wasn't any more important than the rest of their clients and everyone was just going to have to wait.

They charged me for phone calls I never had with him and logged other misc. charges that I then had to spend time fighting back on, instead of focusing on my actual case. I had to go through a process to prove they falsified charges to my account and they admit to the erroneous charges and revoked part of my bill. However I lost two months of valuable time with all of the drama and stress they caused in my case that I will always feel greatly effected the outcome and eventual cost of my case. I had to pay to have files transferred to another attorney and pay for the new attorney's time to get him caught up to speed on everything. Mr. Sutton also made racial slurs in his office which I found to be very unprofessional. One interesting thing was that the person I was in the case against said his attorney upped his charges when he found out he was going to have to work with Mr. Sutton. Now I know why.

I was severely unimpressed by his inability to take my case as serious as it was, that he didn't refer me to someone during his leave of absence, and for the incorrect billing. Consider ANYONE else.

Didn't look into my case too much. Charged me like he did. He had to call me on my court date to ask me questions that were already in my report. Honestly he didn't care much for my case it was just "easy money" for him.

Do not recommend at all. I paid WAY more for my divorce than my wife did, and I received next to no help. My wife, on the other hand, got everything she wanted. All he did was stand in court for me, and then told me after the fact what I was getting out of it. The communication was terrible (aside from his assistant Sara).

I wish I would have done my research ahead of time. To top it all off, they misspelled my name on my $7000 divorce bill

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Wouldnt submit paperwork on time. Wouldnt go out to visit our incarcerated loved one. He continued to charge us after he was fired and just made up all kinds of ridiculous make-believe expenses that he never did. Even tried to charge us on days he didnt show for court. My friend tried him too and had similiar experiences. Stay away or go with public defender.

John was a fantastic lawyer who helped me in a dire time of my life. He was expensive, but worth the price. He was informative, intelligent and kept a strong link of communication at all times. He listened to my concerns and accurately expressed the concerns of the prosecution to me simultaneously. My favorite aspect of Sutton was you could tell that he actually cared about me and my future. I would recommend him to anyone.

John Sutton and his staff assisted me during my custody case. They handled my case with care, diligence, and compassion.
