O wish I had read the reviews prior to entering a case with Patrick Hayes. He did not represent me the way he promised. His communication is terrible. We spent all the money we had to launch our case because he made it sound so simple, yet round one he could not deliver- I don't think he put in one good word for me but rather had his secretary handle paperwork and that's it. Now it's like pulling teeth to get my remaining balance. Again I cannot stress enough! His communication is terrible and many times it was arrogant, like he didn't want to discuss my case with me. Shop around people! It pays to have someone actually on your side. Don't let his "free consultation" persuade you. Anyone can talk big talk. Pat cannot deliver.

I hired attorney Patrick Hayes to represent me in court for a minor speeding ticket. Initially, he was helpful and professional. However, when negotiating a plea deal on the court date, he completely failed in explaining the actual legal terms of the agreement. He either did not understand or misrepresented what was offered by the prosecuting attorney, Christopher O'Connor. (On that note, Attorney O'Connor from Lower Grafton County Prosecutorial Association, raised his voice at me over the phone and was extremely rude and condescending when I called for clarification and when I pointed out that the terms of the settlement were misrepresented to me. Attorney O'Connor was also very unprofessional, and was very defensive when I pointed out that the terms of the settlement were not even possible under NH State Law, which he should know by the back of his hand).

A few more details: When I was considering a plea deal, Attorney Hayes explained to me that if I took a defensive driving course, the points would be "removed" from my record. Legally, and according to the DMV, points cannot be removed from someone's driving record once they enter a guilty plea, which I agreed to do under the terms of the settlement. Mr. Hayes and Mr. O'Connor should have known this to the the case under NH state law. (A defensive driving course is only looked at by a judge if your license could be suspended due to accrual of points. Points stay on one's driving record regardless if one takes a driver education course). Even if one takes a defensive driving course, points are visible for insurance companies, and this is what I was attempting to avoid when I agreed to settle out of court.

Not only that, Mr. Hayes failed to return my calls when I wanted to discuss this matter and to further clarify. That is exceptionally unprofessional, and I would avoid this attorney if possible. I felt deceived by both Attorney Hayes and O'Connor. I am giving Attorney Hayes 2 stars, because I cannot be sure the deceit was intentional or not. Either way, I would be very careful in dealing with either lawyers.
