My husband was assigned to Bradley Weyer during his court proceedings in Polk County. My husband is mentally ill and cannot stand trial on his own or advocate for himself. His attorney is refusing to accept his collect calls during his incarceration. In addition, he advocated to have my husband thrown out on the streets while in a psychotic state rather than help him get into a mental health hospital. While awaiting our turn in court, Mr. Weyer was laughing and talking to a colleague being very disrespectful. Let me just say, I understand how taxed public defenders are in today's legal system. That does not excuse this lawyers behavior. I just survived stage 3 breast cancer. My husband had a psychotic break because of my diagnosis. I had to get a restraining order because my husband went off meds and got addicted to street drugs. Now, I'm trying to get this man the help he so desperately needs without any advocacy from his own attorney. This is unacceptable.
