This firm completely put my mind at ease. I had been googling lawyers with questions and searching for possible outcomes from various websites. I just had a very small credit card debt that got sold and blown up by thousands of dollars. The new company was suing me for the whole blown up amount and I felt defenseless and was afraid to fight. Then I received a letter from The J Murphy Firm, explaining that they would go to court for me and most likely win for a very small fee. I sent a response by email and then called a few days later to check the status. They reassured me that I would not have to show up in court and would be notified after the court date what the outcome was. Within a week after my court date I received a letter from the court saying the court sided in my favor and the debt was absolved. I did nothing but pay a small fee and they did all of the hard work. Rude secretary. I called and asked to make an appointment. She proceeding to do so and then told me the consultation fee. I asked her if before paying the fee, if we could determine if my case was something they can even work on. She got so defensive, and said we don't take clients on unless we can help them, raised her voice and practically hung up on me. I asked her to have the lawyer call me back, and he never did, I never even told them what my case was.

With a lady like that answering phones, you will lose business.

Jimbobsweatpants, Thank you for this thorough review, bc I was thinking that if a law firm would offer you $999, LOL, this has to be a scam. It's easy money for them and they go after the naive. I'm sorry for your experience, just remember, nothing in life is cheap or free. :)

I was sent a mailing from this firm saying that they would like to represent me in my case for a DUI. I took the offer because it seemed reasonable. They were going to appear in court 2 times and would handle all of the paperwork for $999. I was denied ARD because I had under age drinking charges Frome when I was 18. His secretary calls me and tells me that I now have to pay more money as there will be more appearances in court. $500 more they asked for. They said I could break the payments up into two, so I sent the $250 and later that same week I appeared to plea guilty and to be sentenced. I received the max fine of $1000, 6 months probation and 2 weeks on an ankle monitor. It was my first DUI. There were people who showed up that with the same charge with no lawyer who had received much lower fines. Ok, fine I'll accept my debt to society, but here's the thing. This was only the second appearance in court as I had originally paid for. There was no more work involved in the case. We just showed up and got sentenced. I felt dumb for sending the $250, felt like I got suckered, but I just chalked it up as a loss. This firm then had the audacity to send me a letter saying I still owed them another $250!! For what! I paid for two court appearances and ARD paperwork. Nothing more nothing less. You conned me out of my $250 and couldn't be happy with that? If you are considering a lawyer please consider another option as this one will take advantage of you.
