If you're looking for a nice, warm, caring attorney to manage your FDNY, NYPD or ANY type of disability case, look elsewhere. From the "screening" process with their abrasive "intake specialists" who say over and over accusingly, "are you meaning to tell me you couldn't work? You were totally unable to work in any capacity?" to their attorneys who throw caution to the wind and shame you if you are a medical record short (J. Anklowitz is a no-no), you are grilled as if you're on the stand in a major trial. Be forewarned they want you to sign a letter of intent with them quickly and THEN after some time has passed, they may inform you (if your case is not a slam dunk) "we don't know if your case is winnable." In short, if you have an easy, simple-win disability case with no holes, this is the firm for you but if you have a case that presents ANY type of challenges or if you value lawyer-client relationships, keep on walking. You won't find it here. This is a cold firm. At one point, an MD who treated me on 9/11 for injuries sustained at WTC offered to speak with attorney J. Anklowitz about my conditions, and he responded with, "Sorry, I'm too busy to speak with him." Amazing arrogance. Also, if you don't like being grilled hard by your own attorney or can't handle it emotionally, this is not the firm for you. On a good note, employee "Rachel" is very nice - they had very good cold water and the bathroom was super clean. Here's some advice for the Pasternak Firm: When dealing with potential clients who've been emotionally traumatized from a major tragedy, simply Be Nice...Be super nice.

Hortible service..whoever rated them nice they probably took money for them or their reason behind it.what i experinced with them so bad.The office receptionist so rude the one in forest hills.. .the paralegal corina never did her job right but gpod at giving attitude so much lies coming from her mouth during the whole process i did half of her work how stressful can be.I asked for change her they always defanded her acting like i have issues.Then never seen lawyers in person,other than on the hearing dates,Only got talk to them on phine.Then lawyer didnt do his job right during hearimg he promied he fight for me, but he seemed like friend with insurance lawyer.So now i have to look for job even i still in bad shape.

This law firm caused me MORE medical debt than what I had going in. I called and vividly explained my situation and was told my case would be easy, that they could definitely help me win. I had an ER bill that I gave to them and was told they would take care of it via workers comp. Months went by and I was going to be sent into collections. They FORCED me to see not one but TWO separate doctors to fill out some forms that the emergency room did not fill out. So I went to two doctors just to get this paper work for them. Now another few months go by and I ended up paying my ER bill because I didn't want to be sent to collections and now they tell me they don't think they can help me with my case. Maybe they should have thought of that before sending me to two doctors because now I am not only stuck with my ER bill but the bills from the doctors that they sent me to. So thank you, thank you for putting me in more medical debt than what I originally was in before coming to you.

The worst. I had 2 surgeries on my hand. January 11 they allowed transit to cut my money. Had the 2nd surgery and was reduced, was told to to go to the IME 22 Days after my surgery. My experience was a pleasant and professional. My paralegal Rosemary Rosa was the reason. She always had the answers to everything and if she wasn’t sure she always got back to me. If your looking for a firm who cares, this isn't one of them. I am a care-giver of a woman who was injured at her job, who has been fighting the insurance carrier for 5 years. She hired this firm to take care of her case, but when they showed up at each hearing they didn't fight for her and just sat there. They would never listen to her issues, or even appeared to know and understand her case. Every year they assigned her a new paralegal, which she would have to teach about her case, all over again. On several occasions when she was actually able to speak directly to one of her "attorneys" to try and get answers, they would scream at her and act insulted if she questioned anything they did or most of the time didn't do. After about 3 years she dismissed them, took over her case and has actually has done a better job representing herself with no previous experience or knowledge, than they ever did! UPDATE: In response to the reply. We have recordings of all their conversations, just in case of any possible legal bullying and the female attorney who was assigned to the client, at the time, did in fact scream at her, which was one of the reasons the client fired them. The others were apathy, lack of due diligence, lack of transparency with their clients, rarely ever getting to speak with one of their assign attorneys, incorrect legal advice due to their ignorance, etc,.

Stay away!!! Paralegals are rude/unprofessional/hostile and have no empathy or sympathy. You never receive call backs. Never any lawyers to speak too. You’re assigned any random attorney during hearings who never know your case fully, No consistency or actual help. All the different attorneys give different feedback which ultimately screwed up my case. The few times I got help was when I would complain to an office manager called Edgar... Would NOT recommend!!!

Paralegals do not call you back, not all but most. They had numerous years to have my case in order for court hearings, and when I finally got my hearing date, my attorney showed up to court with absolutely no documentation for my hearing! So my next court date was pushed back for another 3-4 months. Unfortunately I am still waiting now for my hearing. Ridiculousness, I do not recommend this law firm.

This law firm ignored my emails for many months . Every time I called, my paralegal, Camila, was never avail and never returned my calls. I have spoken to the office manager who was rude and clearly did not care/ believe me. I have been told several times a lawyer would call me back and they do not. Camila finally emailed me back that my case is closed bc my doc didn’t submit something in time after we tried getting in touch with her SO many times prior. I AM DISGUSTED. I reached out to them for help w a worker comp case and now I have to start a whole new case for malpractice against them as they have cheated me out of a settlement for a painful lifelong injury to my foot. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

The lack of follow up within the Bronx location is not only unacceptable it's disrespectful . Couldn't even give me the decency to let me know if my case was accepted or not after making copies of my documents for their files on July 5th. You can't reach anyone but I'm sure they'd have no problem having their hand out for a percentage of something after winning a case. Not on my watch.

This is a larger law firm that has a specialized staff of lawyers who focus on workers comp in NYC. If you have a complex comp case this is where you need to go. Otherwise, you risk running into legal issues given the complex nature of state run New York compensation system.
