Jim McGough is one of the best criminal defense attorneys in Omaha. No one wants to have to hire a criminal attorney, but if you have to hire Jim McGough! He is nonjudgmental, kind, caring, and efficient. He keeps you up to date on your case and responds to your emails or calls in a timely manner. My ex is an attorney who went to law school with Jim. My naive self at the time could not figure out why Jim wanted to practice criminal defense law when he could do any other type of law. His response to me was “people are human and make mistakes. It doesn’t make them a bad person and they shouldn’t have to be punished for the rest of their life because of it.” The maturity he showed in his mid twenties was so impressive and he’s only gotten better. Mr. McGough represented me in 2019 for a gun and drug charge. The original charges were 1-52 years, the McGough law firm helped secure a plea deal with amended and dropped charges in which I received only probation. Mr. McGough was able to point me in the right direction to do many positive things pre sentencing to receive a favorable outcome and helped me document them for the court. In march of 2015 I was accused of a very serious crime. I jumped to the internet looking for legal counsel and came across McGough Law. I read quite a few reviews about Jim and his firm and was very pleased with his results so I contacted him to plead my case. Due to my work schedule and tight finances it was hard for me to get away to meet him during the week as we are in different cities. He was gracious enough to take time out of his Saturday to meet with me for consultation and also did so a few more times as the trial pushed on. Jim and his team were/are always kind and courteous, respectful, sympathetic, and professional. They were always very knowledgeable and on point with everything that they did. They always kept me in the loop with everything was going on. Jim is also very lenient with his payment system. There are always going to be cost upfront, but he was always willing to work with me and my budget. I was obviously acquitted of the charges against me and I have McGough Law to thank for that…. I owe them my life as that is what they protected for me! I didn’t deserve to be in the system to begin with and pray I never end up there again, but if bad luck should befall me again I know exactly who I am going to call… McGough Law!
