Katie Naset was a blessing for me. My situation was little complicated and would leave me speechless at times and unsure of what to say or do but she always helped me figure myself out and worked in my best interest and helped me to get my divorce and custody of my son as quickly and smoothly as possible. I worked with Katie Naset from Hope. I was engaged in a particularly nasty divorce, and was hoping to maintain the majority of custody for my children, as I didn't feel their father was an adequate figure. I used the family lawyer, Katie Naset and her assistant Shelby Burns, from Hope Law Firm out of the West, Des Moines location. They specialize in Family cases including, difficult custody battles.
Overall I was very pleased with my case. Let’s be honest divorces and custody battles aren’t exactly something everyone has a good attitude about, especially when you think you are dealing with uncooperative parties. The first time I met with Katie, she was very upfront and honest about my situation which is exactly what anybody should be looking for from a lawyer. She laid out a realistic plan and goal and told me what to expect. She gave me the pointers and advice I needed to get her the information and documentation needed to help her as I pleaded my case. Lawyers cannot be expected to make a case out of nothing and Katie was very upfront about what was worth documenting and important. Katie was always two steps ahead of our other opponent, knowing exactly what we needed to do. She was always on time to every meeting, court held event, mediation, phone meetings, you name it. I cannot say the same about our opponent, but not once did she let it interfere with the way she proceeded with my case, full well knowing we may be sitting, waiting on someone else. She was the utmost professional, and very classy which is another important factor I thought, the way she carried herself in and out of the courtroom. I was intimidated by our opponent at first, with the things she would say, the grape vine of info everyone gets when going through a divorce/custody battle, the snide remarks I would hear from my ex-husband, his friends and family. Katie will crush anybody’s poker face, and arrogant attitude, she will shut it down and it is the most amazing feeling, imagine you are sitting in the chair next to someone who is doing what they are doing just for bad intentions, or to hurt you, imagine you get to look over and think “well don’t you feel stupid now.” If you want that feeling, which everyone does she is the representation you will need. I will however say, sometimes I would question her tactics and the timing but, in the end, she knew exactly what she was doing. She explained everything. She answered every single one of my insecurities about this case, with realistic ideas of the outcome, never steered me in the wrong direction. She never got irritated by the million times I would call or email with negativity or have a bad attitude. Sometimes I felt like I was letting loose on Katie and Shelby and they always came back with a positive attitude; they never got aggravated or became short. Not once did it ever take more than 12 hours to respond, if Katie was tied up in a case Shelby was right there. They are literally the perfect team for a case to work in your favor. I felt as this team truly cared about my son’s future and what was in the best interest of my family. I Would highly recommend using them. I will however be using them again if needed. I have referred people asking for a good lawyer as I have nothing but good things to say about Katie & Shelby at Hope.

I went through a messy divorce in 2010 which hope law firm got me through in amazing fashion.....but that’s not why I’m writing this.....
I am currently in process of selling my home. I was told that I could not do so because of a lien against my name. Apparently after paying off my ex wife, she never filed a “satisfaction of payment” with the courts, causing the PAID debt to remain as a lien on my name. I called hope law firm (8 years later) and though my lawyer no longer worked there, a mrs. keul was able to help me out. I can not say enough good things about this.... by far the best customer service experience in years. Anyways, she worked with my real estate reps and was able to get everything cleared so I could sell my current home in 2018. They got a random call from me out of the blue 8 years after working with them and they just solved everything like I walked in yesterday. There was no charge. There was genuine concern for the situation. The amount of effort and work that went into this was tremendous. My experience with hope law firm was just incredible.

Hope law firm is a JOKE. They held onto my case until the last two weeks of statues of limitation to do anything. And STILL didn't settle my case told me they couldn't do anything and sent me on my way. They contacted me two times in a 1.5 year period of taking my case on. Once too take on my case and the other to tell me they couldn't do anything.

I hired Katie Naset based on a friend's referral for a divorce case with child custody and child support issues. The support and counsel she provided was outstanding. I was on my motorcycle, hit by a car that ran a red light. I gave the officer at the scene my 3 witnesses names and phone numbers. I wondered why other agencies weren't calling me back for a visit. Turns out, the officer took the defendant"s version of the story for the police report and did not include my witnesses. Shannon at Hope Law Firm met with me anyway. She listened to me, asked questions for understanding, and took my witnesses names and phone numbers (I took a picture of the list at the scene before I handed it to the officer). As a result, she won my claim, made thousands for the law firm, and thousands for me as well. I could not have done that on my own, and I consider myself a fairly accomplished individual. Throughout the process, she explained well, listened well, and always returned my calls or emails. Very professional, thorough, and I'd highly recommend!!

CHOOSE KATIE NASET!! I wanted to be very picky and choose a top-of-the-line lawyer for the start of my divorce process and protection order; especially because I have a baby in the mix. My husband was abusive physically and emotionally. Thus, I was looking for sharp expertise, someone who I felt personally cared about me (rather than treating me like just another case/number), and a lawyer that, if needed, would go the extra mile to make sure my end goal came to pass. Katie Naset fulfilled ALL of these requirements plus some! She also answered every single one of my million questions that I had for her. Considering this was my first time dealing with anything on the legal level, I didn't understand anything, but Katie educated me to the point where I understood everything each step of the way, and felt very competent and confident in my position/case with her! I knew she would protect me and fight above and beyond for me. She has so much knowledge and experience with domestic violence, and more. I could read people pretty well and from the start, she showed she truly and genuinely cared about me, my situation, my baby, and our case as if it was the only one she had. Even though my divorce was uncontested, Katie’s expert guidance made the process very smooth. At my first consultation she thoroughly explained every step of the process and going forward she and Shelby, her paralegal, provided support and explained the completion of each required document in a timely manner. Katie also answered all emails promptly within the same day and even when she was on a short vacation.

Warning Warning Warning Warning. David Hope only cares about getting your money. He was my father's lawyer for a "Will". David is no good. When my father passed away a short time ago, I had to give over $43,000 to an underserved individual. When I contacted David, his exact words, "I don't have time to listen to you when while I have paying customers in the lobby". Do not use David Hope.

This law firm advertises so much because they are pathetic and they are forced to because they wouldn't get clients any other way. The good firms don't need to advertise as word of mouth thru reputation is enough. Hope is a joke...ask any reputable firm and they will tell you NEVER use Hope. Every lawyer I spoke to regarding using Hope laughed and they all said the same things, no one should use them...they are weaklings and won't fight for you. Katie is a poodle and she gets eaten up against good lawyers...Andrew has zero business having a firm...complete waste of money...the good reviews are from people without a clue or friends, always read the 1 star reviews...Hope's reputation is EASILY the lowest in town, bar none!

They oversold me on their capabilities and desire to help me. They blew through my retainer very quickly and failed to get even basic modifications completed on my case. Their rates are extremely high and their ability to justify those rates in non existent. The night before my first hearing Steve Neve said he couldn’t make it because “something came up” and a lesser attorney was provided who failed to get child support modified. It was a very basic modification that she couldn’t get done. When asked about what would happen next there wasn’t much explanation provided and now I am stuck paying excessive amounts of child support and have no recourse. I could hear the entire explanation before the judge and she let the other attorney control the narrative and stumbled her way through it. Completely unprepared, incapable and unprofessional. That is their company culture. They are not good at what they do. It would be one thing if they actually succeeded, but they don’t.

They are concerned with making as much money as they can without delivering on their promises. I will never use Hope Law Firm ever again and I urge caution for those who are considering them.

Where to start. They are literally the most unprofessional lot I’ve seen. They are almost con men to be honest. Their rates are extremely high and they cannot deliver. They deceived us in the beginning about what they could do and they failed miserably. The attorney in question couldn’t be bothered to even show up for a basic hearing. He literally emailed me the night before at 9:00 and said something came up. What an unprofessional muppet. Then the lackey they sent crashed and burned and basically shrugged her shoulders regarding her failure. It was literally a sight to see. They take your money and then bail when they fail. Hence the conmen reference.

I would recommend going elsewhere for the services as you will be out a significant amount of money and their ability to deliver is minimal to nothing. In short, Hope Law Firm sucks.

I’ve had difficulties seeing my kids. My ex wife has weaponized my time with the children because she’s bitter about our divorce years ago. I came to Hope Law Firm looking for help. They certainly know how to put in a show I’ll say that. But the attorney I had was lazy, unprofessional, and quite frankly, unable to do basic things. I’ve since moved on but I wanted to leave a warning to all who would think about using their services. They will burn through your retainer, not deliver results and then demand more money. For what exactly I don’t know but they try to act like reading and email and responding is a huge effort. They also tried billing for excess time on the phone. In short, it’s all about money for them and not their clients needs. They only look at people as outlets for money, they do not provide even marginal support.

Be warned.

Worst law firm in the DSM area as possibly in the United States. Steve is an imbecile and shouldn’t be allowed to practice law. They’ll take your money and blow through it and then tell you they can’t represent you anymore when you can’t hand over another penny. Do not recommend.

If you want a law firm that will take your money and not do any work, then this is the firm for you! This firm is a scam and anyone who has used them will tell you that aside from the people who were paid to give good ratings on here.

Our attorney took our $3500 retainer and moved a divorce decree from KS to Iowa. Then he couldn’t be bothered to show up for court on a date that had been scheduled for months and after that he “fired” us as his clients for not maintaining $1,000 in our trust account when we asked if we could pay monthly because he blew through our retainer. Every other attorney I’ve talked to says that Hope law firm is known for this kind of stunt and that it shouldn’t have cost us $3500 to get a divorce decree moved. Do not use Hope law firm. They are a scam.

Never again. Bait and switch.
