Literally worthless. Lawyer never calls back nor do the “receptionists” or “office workers”. They do not get anything done. A process that we were told will take a month took 6 months. Then to top it off they fired the lawyer we were working with and decided to not call and inform us, so after a week or 2 of yet again not hearing back from anyone, we called and they tell us they fired him and to call him. Call him? He doesn’t work there anymore! He didn’t do a anything anyways, let alone after being fired! At the end of it all we ended up paying what we were fighting because they could do paperwork right nor do their job at all.

Do not waste your time or your money. You will need to hire another attorney to fix what these clowns do or DON'T do! I had to bring it to their attention the ridiculous mistakes ( absolute wrong names on my legal documents). They had the audacity to charge me for their mistakes. $250.00 an hr to fix your mistakes. In the correspondence emails they admitted their mistakes, also admitted they rushed through it and would make corrections. There is the proof that it didn't take an hour. Then to charge me for the correspondence back in forth to make the corrections. My case could have been cut and dry, but I didn't have professional legal representation.

During a difficult and sometimes confusing process, everyone I worked with was extremely helpful and made this as smooth as possible. I always felt that they had my best interests in mind and advised me in the best way possible. Stephen always responded quickly and professionally. Tarissa was of excellent assistance also. I could not have been happier with the team.

Ryan Baumgartner represented me in a custody case and I am fully satisfied with the work he did. I was always aware of the status of my case and any filings or work he was doing "behind the scenes". Mr. Baumgartner was transparent about the cost, timeline and reasoning behind any of his decisions and set reasonable expectations for results of my custody case. My case drug out for about a year (at no fault of Mr. Baumgartner). I received primary physical custody of my son, his father was ordered to pay approximately half of my lawyer fees, as well as child support. It was outlined in the decree that much of the reason behind the ruling was due to information presented by my counsel (Ryan). His hours of research and preparation showed in the courtroom and he did not leave a stone unturned. I feel Ryan went above and beyond my very high expectations while handling my extremely difficult and complex case. I would refer anyone to him for divorce or custody cases.

I would actually not give this place any stars if I had that option. I only dealt with the paralegal and not the lawyer himself. So long story short, 2 years later I still own a house and they won't do anything about it except charge me $250 more dollars to "see if he can do anything". I've learned my lesson, better go by someone's word of mouth rather than radio/TV ads.

I retained Mark Hinshaw as my lawyer in September 2015 for a custody dispute. There were times where I questioned the process and Mark and the other staff were professional and provided helpful advice. My case was ruled in my favor in June 2016 and I appreciate what the office had done to help with that. Overall I had a positive experience, provided the situation. I would recommend this firm to others looking for legal representation.

Feeling deeply distressed by the service received by hawkeye divorce. Decided to hire Mark Hinshaw as my attorney the very next morning I changed my mind and sent an e-mail saying I wasn't interested. I had given them my credit card info for payments but never signed any paperwork and never received any information about fees or payments. Decided to hire Mark Hinshaw again a few days later, but my e-mails and phone calls went unanswered for 6 days. I finally gave up and decided to hire another lawyer. Turns out Mark Hinshaw charged my credit card without me retaining him or signing anything. He refuses to give my money back, claiming that he already did work on my case, which he wasn't allowed to do without me signing the forms. Very shifty and not very professional.

Dissatisfied with service received by hawkeye divorce. Choose Mark Hinshaw as he said completion within 6 weeks. Sadly my divorce took 10 months from application to completion. He was very obliging when I spoke in the beginning but later it turned out to be a disaster as I was not notified of the hidden charges, insufficient advice about children and finances etc etc.. It was indeed stressful dealing with Mark Hinshaw.
He never consulted and did things on my behalf without even letting me know. It seems like he and his office is all about money. When sometimes where minor things could have been resolved easily, he would say we should do this or that and file some papers and this would cost extra. Finally the bill was extremely high and the results extremely bad. I will not recommend this lawyer to anyone. Please find an attorney who advises you well and has your interest above their own financial gain.

Mark is a real tool. He finds out very little about your case and his practice is a joke. 3 weeks after I hired this clown he goes before the judge with my ex-wife and tells me to wait in the hall. He goes into see the judge and comes back out and tells me that I'm not allowed in my house anymore. Apparently my ex told him I had already moved out. Imagine that the ex lied?, so I paid this idiot to get me kicked out of my house with no place to go and only the clothes on my back. Do not hire Mark, you will lose!!

Ryan has been amazing with my custody case! He has gone way above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of and that I understand everything.

I can't put it into words how horrible Mr. Hinshaw is about representation. In fact, the rating sums it up. I would love to divulge more but that would be placing me as low as he is. Don't trust him and don't pay him. That was the quickest waste of $5,000. He has a BIG mouth, and intentions are not in anyone's best interest.I unfortunately padded his wallet. I would strongly suggest that any human would seek other counsel.

Took a year to get my child support order addendum in, child support representative even said the attorney "drug their feet". Neglected to notify me of how I was to be paying my child support from then on, and tried to charge me for fixing their mistakes. Attorney put down I was married and had to resubmit the addendum after a YEAR. This has been going on two years now and am just picking up the pieces to fix it. Five thousand dollars in the crap chute. BEST OF LUCK!

Mark is a great attorney and very easy to work with. His knowledge of Iowa divorce law and procedure is vast and I have seen first hand that he is very well respected in Polk County and the surrounding areas. His flat fees for uncontested divorces are as competitive as you will find and if your case is more complex, he is going to use your retainer money wisely, and to your best benefit. He's not the kind of attorney that will take a large retainer, burn through it in one month and then ask for more money or withdrawal from the case. I appreciate the fact that he is responsive to calls and emails and his support staff is great to work with when appropriate. Lastly, his office is conveniently located and offers plenty of free parking. I would recommend the Law Office of Mark R. Hinshaw for any of your general practice needs, but especially if you are going through a divorce or need assistance in filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy relief.
