My biggest piece of advice when determining if you want to work with Sarah DeKraay as your lawyer is knowing what you're up against. Sarah is incredibly knowledgeable about divorce law, is very professional as well as organized and detail-oriented. However, my ex employed a lawyer from Cordell & Cordell, who is apparently knowing for playing a bit dirty in the divorce process (i.e. always filing a restraining order so the other person is kicked out of the marital home) and is overall employs a very aggressive approach. I'm not sure Sarah is the best person to go head-to-head with another lawyer like this. I certainly think Sarah could have been proactive at times, as it seemed we were constantly on the defense responding to the other side, rather than being proactive and being one step ahead of the other side. It never seemed as if we had the upper hand throughout the entire divorce process. I paid Sarah tens of thousands of dollars for my divorce. However, I reached out to her with one (ONE!) question have the divorce was finalized and she was no longer representing me, and I ever even got the courtesy of a reply email or phone call back. Even if she had to bill me, the fact that she couldn't even be bothered to respond is quite unprofessional. Also, Sarah told me many times that I wouldn't' be charged for this call or that email, but that wasn't the case. Lastly, she told me that we could negotiate the remaining $18,000 I owed, but later that day when my divorce was finalized, she just sent me a bill for $18,000. More follow through on things you say, especially when it comes to billing, is needed.

I hired Sarah when my lawyer backed out the day before my final divorce. She had 3 weeks to review my case and get things in order and she did it with flying colors!!
She will fight for everything you need and want and she’s so good.

Attorney Sarah DeKraay helped me tremendously through my divorce. It was a contentious divorce trial, but it was worth the battle and I have primary placement of our three children and receive support that allows me to meet my expenses each month. I recommend Sarah if you are looking for an ethical and hard working attorney.
