I am an Illinois resident that was hit with a rather hefty speeding charge in a 50 mph zone. From initial contact, I was extremely pleased. All questions were answered and the process explained thoroughly, even realistically setting expectations. I paid a one time fee, then it was hands off for me. I got pulled over in July allegedly going 89 in a 65 in a construction zone. Excellent Service, Misleading Results

I hired Kim & Lavoy to amend a citation (reduce a misdemeanor to a lesser charge). I was told, "You do not want this on your record," so I followed their advice.

Unbeknownst to me (and also uninformed by counsel), while the original charge was amended, it still appears on my record, in plain sight.

Sure, I was not guilty. But from an outside perspective, I'm not concerned with the outcome. I'm wondering why this charge is listed, in the first place. It's very disconcerting, with respect to peers, colleagues, employment, etc.

They did provide excellent service—aside from disclosing this critical detail. They also made my rather trivial case feel like it was a top priority.

Nevertheless, I thought I was paying to drop a charge, and get it off my record. Had I been told that the original charge would still appear on my record, I would have seriously reconsidered retaining any legal services.
