Stenger agents are smart, caring, and often funny (yeh, you, Mickey !!). I had spent literally years trying to settle an account with Syn"cronie" bank. Would not negotiate; added costs for items such as "Administrative Fees", Daily Interest, and Employee Time spent harassing people trying to pay a corrected statement - which never was going to happen. Stenger stepped in. Got the case to court. Settled for the original amount of the debt. Graciously allowed me to make payments. Took care of notifying horrible Syn"cronie" as well as the court. All things considered, they went above and beyond "in an attempt to collect a debt".
After paying off my debt and many many phone calls I still haven't recieved any receipt or anything stating I paid off my debt.

Sent a letter of garnishment to my job, about an account from 8 years ago. I even opened a new account with this gas/electric company a year ago, so I had no idea this was going to happen. I called the collection agency and tried to make arrangements with them. For several weeks, they said they were going to send the arrangement to the court and it could take a while. I ended up going to the court directly and filed a motion myself, turns out, they never made the court aware of the arrangement I made with them. Thank goodness, the judge sided with me. Although they are still garnishing my state income taxes.

ANYONE AND EVERYONE on SSI or SSDI are protected by the Federal Government from any garnishments except for child support, alimony, taxes, or to pay another federal agency. You should consult with their own attorney for their protection, but this is in your handbook from the Social Security Administration Section 207 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 407).

A guy comes by my house and says he was looking for me says he was a private investigator with so I did some searching to find out who would send a private investigator to my house so it was Fingerhut or Web Bank so I contacted Stenger and Stenger at first they couldn’t find me in the system finally after about 30 minutes or so they found me we make an agreement and I had to pay twenty five dollars as a down payment and I will have to pay $65.00 a month after that and I still get letters saying I have to be in court when they told me that the payments would keep it out of court after reading these reviews I might have to stop because I’m on a fixed income I don’t know yet but I never expected anything like this this is ridiculous

Now they are tell me they sent in the cancellation of garnishment and I will have to wait 45 days to get paid back my money.

I have been contacted by these people and they had someone serve me papers last year and I was so upset about this. Apparently I had a credit card account opened at Sears Store, since they have gone out of business, they needed to get all their money with which ever means they could, by going after people who opened credit cards from then in the stores. Well, I called Sears and Stenger that I didn't open the account. It was my sister n Law, who has stolen my information and opened it without my knowledge. I found out after She had past away, is when I started getting notices. Well, I kept trying to tell them that it wasn't me that open this account. Well Stenger didn't get in touch with me until this week, a year later saying that they are going to garnish my Taxes and that they have filed with the IRS about this action to collect what is so, called owed to Sears. Well, I contacted my Tax Professsional and she said, that i would need to write to Stenger about this and tell them what is going on once again. I found out that they can't garnish my taxes; except State taxes, not Federal. However, I am going to be on disability and am not working. I have no idea what to do with this situation. I have to send them a copy of my documents to them. After reading all your guys reviews about them, I may have to call an attorney about this. When I did talk to them, they were so rude on the phone and very incompetent. I will not be paying anything that I don't owe at all. Any advises would be great. Thanks.

I gave this collection agency a 1 star rating becasue their business practices are unfair and unjust. They are debt collectors again, however, when the overcollect on acciunt they do not refund the overpayment. Have your debt transferred to a different agency if possible. Or try to avoid double garnishments of wages and tax intercepts. Because it has been over 90 days since my first contact in regards to my refund and keep getting the runaround.

I have never written a review before but after the horrible service i have received, I feel I have no choice. I owed a debt and was sent letters to pay it off. I contacted the company to set up a payment arrangement. I gave my bank account information so they could automatically charge me the agreed amount every month. I received one letter after 2 months of "paying" saying i was not paying the debts, but if I know I have, then I should disregard the letter. 6 months after they had my information, I get a letter sent to my house saying they are taking me to court for a wage execution order. After contacting customer service right away, they told me my bank was not allowing them to take money out of my account. I gave all of my information again and called my bank to see if it was true. My bank told me that it was not true and they have not tried to take any payments out, and if they did, my bank would not stop them unless it was fraudulent. It was a complete waste of time. This place made my life so much more difficult even though I was attempting to pay off the debt.

I received a certified letter from this group about two weeks ago. The documents were worn, barely legible, and unorganized. I was able to determine the documents were concerning a personal loan account I opened with Lending Club years ago. Due to the inaccuracies and generic verbiage I started not to address the letter. The letter doesn’t mention wage garnishment or a law suit of any kind, but after reading reviews I thought it would be best to address their “summons”. Fortunately, I had receipts and documents supporting my payment history with Lending Club, and my efforts to settle my account with Lending Club prior to the account closing. I gathered my documents and sent them certified mail to this group and the courts. I can’t stand shady, no-good, lying companies who attempt to take advantage of people.

Valid debit. I had been trying to pay this for well over a year with another company who wouldn't return calls. I was served with an efile court case and was actually happy because now I could pay this. I called day of service and paid...in full. Since paying it's been like pulling teeth to get them to dismiss the filing. I haven't received the letter showing I've paid which was supposed to be mailed out and I have the cancelled check showing it's cleared my bank. I just spoke with Danielle, a lead, who was rude with me and stated I will still have to go to court regardless. There is no reason they can't efile a dismissal except that they are attempting to get even more money from me and waste the courts time. I left a message on Michelle Zylstra's voicemail hoping she has some sort of decency and will efile a dismissal otherwise im counter-suing (pro se) for my missed time by having to go to court when it's not needed. Be VERY careful with this company this is not how debit collectors are supposed to work according to the fdcpa rules.

woke up to a man banging down my door and handed me a civil warrant, I was not expecting this as i got no warning i was going to be served a civil warrant. It was not delivered to me certified. some man from a Graphics company just showed up and handed it to me, no sheriff or anything, I contacted an attorney here in my town and she said it sounds suspicious. Thanks to Stenger & Stenger my family is not having no Christmas and i tried to get them to lower the debt but they wouldn't budge on it, Credit One is a scam if there ever was one, Tried to pay my bill 6 times online never could, not only that they charge $9.95 to pay you're bill, and $25 if you are late, tried calling customer service but none of them speak english, $399 in debt and they are making me pay $703, I am going to demand proof of the validity of the debt. they are only giving me until Jan 17th, 2018 to pay the balance in full.

Since i couldn't afford to pay the minimum amount monthly they closed the account. I don't know who is worse...the seller of a closed account or buyer of it. I have two sickly young children that i dedicate every penny to. This company is horrible heartless and greedy.
