Maurice and his office made an unpleasant situation so much easier to deal with. His counsel and guidance provided us with exactly outcome we had hoped for and we are extremely grateful. His staff was always available, professional and extremely courteous. Highly recommend.
It was evident that my Mom could no longer handle her finances and was running out of funds. Her situation appeared hopeless. I was referred to Maurice Giro as an expert in Medicaid planning. He was able to deal with my difficult Mom who trusted him to sort out her tangled finances. He also prepared documents that enabled me to submit applications to nursing homes and speak to her health care providers. Maurice and his paralegal Denise are knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. Because of them Mom qualified for Medicaid and was admitted to the best nursing care facility where she is thriving.

First off, I am 63 years old and this is only the second time in my life that I felt that a service that I paid $9,500 was so shockingly egregious that I had to commit the effort to leave a review to warn others of my experience.
I hired Maurice Giro in April of 2018 to take care of my mother’s Medicaid application, which realistically should be a 6-8 month process; instead it turned out to be an almost 15 month agonizing ordeal for my family.
He didn’t even submit my mother application to Medicaid until November, 3 ½ months after I put my mother in the nursing home; no reason was given other than there were personnel changes in his office.
My mother was rejected in December, which commonly happens initially so, you go to court and appeal the decision.
We had a court date in January which he canceled due to sickness and I was informed via email the night before. Then, he did the same for our March court date, because he had a conflicting court date in another county, which I was not aware of until I called Medicaid myself and they informed me that he had canceled date.
He finally made the third court date in May, and after meeting with Medicaid he promised that if I got backup documents to satisfy a few issues he would have it wrapped up before our June court date. As usual he did not fulfil his promise and I had to contact Medicaid and deliver the documents myself. We still ended up with a penalty, but he made sure he sent us an extra bill within 24 hrs. He is the reason why people dread and hate the thought of having to deal with a lawyer.
Even when they’re in the office they won’t answer the phone, most of the time calls go to an answering service and a lot of times calls are not returned, and the same is true with emails. A member of his staff Anthony is extremely arrogant and disrespectful and I can sadly say the same about Maurice. When you express concern and anger over the constant delays and lack of communication they get defensive and act as if there is something wrong with you. I was even told by Anthony, “You’re not our only customer.”
I don’t know how good he is in other areas of his practice, but I strongly recommend YOU DO NOT USE this firm for submission of a Medicaid application.

Maurice and his whole team, with special mention to Lyan and Carol, have been phenomenal throughout my divorce proceedings. They have always kept me abreast of updates and provided me with sound advice, but more importantly, I truly feel that they rallied for me and advocated for my best interest every step of the way. Because they truly treated me like a dignified human being, I felt like I established a personal connection with his staff as a result. Maurice even bought me a shot at a party I had recently - not many clients can say that about their lawyers!

After taking on the responsibility of managing everything from legal affairs to finances and being the health advocate for both my father after his 3 strokes and mother after her stents implant surgery in short succession, it felt like there were very few people I could lean on to help me through the most difficult challenge of my life.
There were so many dizzying moving pieces, but one source of hope was actually a lawyer - Maurice Giro. After diligent research, I interviewed 3 other lawyers - (one charged over $400 just for the first session).
What put Maurice above the rest was how he treated my parents. All the other lawyers were dismissive towards my parents at best and made us all feel rushed to ask the important questions we had in our meticulously timed sessions. Giro was open to answering all the questions we had (by phone and multiple emails) and was very respectful to my recovering and hard of hearing dad and my conversationalist mom.
Maurice Giro runs a busy and active office which was a good sign to me as well. Meeting with lawyers is not always pleasant, but Maurice was a good exception to that for us. Thank you for helping us through such a difficult time in our lives, Maurice. It was a turning point for all of us.

Very up-front on costs and schedule; went out of their way to help my home-bound 93-year-old sister with will, etc.

Maurice Giro saved my life. That might sound like hyperbole but it’s truth. Had it not been for his quick, detailed and steadfast work on behalf of my ailing mamma and me, it’s possible I would have lost my home AND not have been able to get the proper care for mamma. He’s that rare attorney who truly cares about his clients. He’s highly professional but also genuinely compassionate. I will forever be grateful to him and cannot recommend him enough. Oh, and he has the greatest secretary in the world in Ivette! Most sincerely--Frank J. Avella, playwright/screen writer/film journalist

Effective and Zealous lawyer in Child Support Case - I hired Giro At Law Firm as my divorce lawyer in New Jersey to help me on a child support garnishment order issued against me. The firm's lawyer Maurice Giro skillfully navigated the NJ court system, and successfully argued my case. As a result of his hardwork and efficiency, the wages that were erroneously garnished from my pay were returned to me. I would highly recommend Giro Attorneys At Law Firm for divorce related cases in NJ.

I can’t say enough about the great services of Giro Attorneys at Law. My wife and I decided to divorce in 2011, but were so enraged with each other that negotiating a settlement agreement was virtually impossible. With no children, we had nothing to lose by dragging out the divorce proceedings and basically screwing each other over for all the petty, old differences that led us to divorce in the first place. I am very appreciative of the legal services that Maurice, my attorney at Giro was able to provide. He was slow to engage my wife’s attorney in controversial discussions, and saved me a lot of money in legal fees. Once my wife, settled down, Maurice went into action and was sable to pound out an agreement that I think was fair. My ex and I were literally on the courthouse steps, ready to go to trial before we were able to settle our finances. I give credit to Maurice for the fact that our case didn’t end up in court. He is a great negotiator and a skilled divorce attorney. I would recommend his services to my best friend.
